Actress Cynthia Nixon refuses to bow to pressure from the gay community to change her opinion that her homosexuality is a choice, despite facing criticism for her beliefs.
The Sex and the City star enjoyed a 15-year romance with her college sweetheart Danny Mozes the father of her daughter Samantha, 15, and son Charlie, 9 until their split in 2003. She then fell for Christine Marinoni in 2004, and the couple has been engaged to wed since 2009.
Nixon, who also has an 11-month-old son, Max, with Marinoni, is convinced her change in sexual preference was a choice.
In a candid interview with the New York Times Magazine the actress says, I gave a speech recently, an empowerment speech to a gay audience, and it included the line, Ive been straight and Ive been gay, and gay is better.
And they tried to get me to change it, because they said it implies that homosexuality can be a choice. And for me, it is a choice. I understand that for many people its not, but, for me, its a choice, and you dont get to define my gayness for me.

GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY
No wonder she chose other women — no many would choose her!
Physically impossible.
Of course. A lot of women have issues with “men”, often b/c they choose badly. Well, Cynthia certainly looks the part of a lesbian now that she has gone Kojak for a role.
Wow. She looks horrible.
So it IS a choice.
Guess all that wailing about it not being a choice has been done in by an honorary lesbian.
I guess if you’re bi-sexual, it would be a choice. But if you’re a pure gay or lesbian, then it wouldn’t be.
Then again, I understand the gay lobby not wanting anyone questioning their “I’m born this way” mantra. Twould raise many a question, that.
The happy couple. Yes that's a female with her. Rojo Caliente.
I think this is the same position as Tammy Bruce, conservative commentator who happens to be lesbian.
I used to like HGTV; now, at least every other day, they have homosexual "partners" looking for a property, showing off their property, selling, remodeling, etc. I can only imagine they find and feature these homos because they have friends working on the network.
I have been trying to figure which of the guys that work on things like "Color Splash"--David, and several others like the oriental-Vern?, the good looking builder named Oster-something or other, the guy on Income Property, Property Brothers, etc. I know a bunch of them must be homo. Any ideas? and does it bother you about them showing about 20-25% homosexual -maybe more? Just curious.
vaudine
Yes, I hate the way that homosexuality is jammed down our throats, and needless to say, the women who want to look like guys look silly, including now, Kojak Nixon. Maybe I wouldn’t be as irate if there weren’t kids involved. Bob
This is not sarcasm...
Is the one on the left a guy or girl?
Also, he/she looks to be only about 15 years old.
What a waste of bandwidth!!!!!!!!
I see you read Dlisted.
The one on the left is a woman who is certainly older than 15 by twice that many years. At least.
Those Nixons are only trouble, man!
Nixon’s partner would never be beautiful, but nobody looks that bad without some effort. What I see is self-loathing.
Oh, such an important story subject — the infighting among perverts.
My wife reads Dlisted and has been kind enough to share the Rojo saga for the past few years.
Define "with"...
