Newt then: I supported Rockefeller over Goldwater
Newt now: I supported Goldwater
Drudge had this up on the frontpage earlier today, but now it's gone. Still in the cache though:

Another Pelosi/global warming-moment?
To: Wyoming Cowboy
The 1st video SUSPICIOUSLY cuts off right after Newt’s supposed blooper moment there.

Maybe you should stick to criticizing your own candidate, Ron "Crazy-Uncle" Paul.
You know, get your own house in order before you start to criticize others?
To: Wyoming Cowboy
The other day Drudge posted a story that said that Gingrich would have Jim Clyburn, a South Carolina liberal, with him at a campaign event. The story turned out to be false but Drudge never posted a retraction.
To: Wyoming Cowboy
"Newt now: I supported Goldwater"I didn't hear him say he supported him. He says "I went to a Goldwater organizing session."

No. the Rockefeller wing is not supporting him. Gingrich is going after the Rockefeller wing candidate who is Romney.

Exactly.
It cuts off right at that point so you have no context to what he is saying. What was the purpose of doing that? Well, of course, to make Mr. Newt seem less conservative than he claims. Even the Goldwater “quote” doesn’t support the headline given to it.

Romney supported Tsongas and is on video expressing opposition to Reagan.
To: Spunky
Yep, that’s what he said. And it is entirely within the realm of possibility that Newt started out for Rockefeller and then switched over to Goldwater after the convention. The larger point is, he was GOP in the South long before that was cool. But don’t expect the Paultards to give a dang about anything like context.

That was 1964...
Newt was probably only a polywog at that time...

Romney...is on video expressing opposition to Reagan. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree - his dad fought the Reagan-wing of the party too.
So what if Newt supported Rockefeller way back when? We've all made some mistakes in our younger days. To my shame, I once voted for Frank Church. Then I wised up. More than a few people have made the migration from Rockefellerite to Reaganite.

Every since Palin decided not to run I don’t have a candidate, which means that contrary to some, I’m not blind to the flaws of any of ‘em... Just ‘cause Newt might be the best shot to stop Romney doesn’t mean he’s suddenly an ideal candidate. But I guess if politics is just a game of sports to you, once you decide on a team, you’re not susceptible to reason, right?
I will caucus for Paul, but I’d hypothetically vote for both Newt and Santorum in the general IF any one of them makes it.
Mitt’s another matter however, but that hardly even needs to be said.

That was 1964... Newt was probably only a polywog at that time... He was 21 in 1964.
I will only support candidates who supported Goldwater in 1964. Thus I have to say: Hillary 2012 - she was a Goldwater Girl in 1964 and that's good enough for me. (and I'm not going to insult your intelligence with a sarcasm tag).

Yup. When I first saw that on Drudge, I watched the video and my first thought was, why is that clip terminated immediately after he said he was the Rockefeller state chairman against Goldwater in the south.
I want my information UNCENSORED BY A PAULBOT.

Lying by omnission, using half-truths, and taking statements out of context is just what I expect from liberals and libertarians.
Paulbots and liberals have no honor, no integrity, and no moral compass.

Newt was young as was Mitt.
Mitt Romney was with his father as they stormed off the convention floor, in formal protest against the conservatives winning the nomination.

Really?
I question the objectivity of anyone who thinks that Paul only has one area of weakness where conservatism is concerned.
To: Wyoming Cowboy
I think the last guy who posted that crap got the zot.
To: Sudetenland
I hardly think Drudge is a “Paulbot”. He’s just anti-Newt. And Pro Romney.
