The Justice Department on Monday charged a former CIA officer with repeatedly leaking classified information, including the identities of agency operatives involved in the capture and interrogation of alleged terrorists.
The case against John Kiriakou, who served as a senior Senate aide after ending his CIA career, extends the Obama administrations unprecedented crackdown on disclosures of national security secrets to journalist.
Kiriakou, who was among the first to go public with details about the CIAs use of water-boarding and other harsh interrogation measures, was charged with disclosing classified information to reporters and lying to the agency about the origin of other sensitive material he published in a book.

Haha. Obama cracks down on this guy while he hands the really important stuff over to Iran, Russia, the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda.....
Watch the right hand while the switch takes place in the left hand.
Obama had to throw somebody under the bus.Something MUST HAVE happened that Obama was going to be exposed so he had to throw somebody under the bus.
The article doesn’t say who he worked for, (in fact, NONE OF THE ARTICLES I’VE FOUND ON THIS SAY WHO HE WORKED FOR), but isn’t this the ABC ‘Counter-terrorism Analyst’ who worked for JOHN KERRY?????
This smuck of a reporter wants us to find out which Senator ourselves.
But is all too eager to give his Obama-Loving opinions:
...extends the Obama administrations unprecedented crackdown on disclosures of national security secrets to journalists
The case is the latest legal move by an administration that has been more aggressive than its predecessors in seeking to stem the flow of government secrets to the press
including the identities of agency operatives
Don't ya mean "Covert" Operatives Mr. Reporter.
Let see if this Democrat leaker gets as much air time from the MSM as Valerie Plame & Scooter Libby.
No party mention? I knew it was a Republican aide right then... /s
Kiriakou worked for Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) as a Senate Foreign Relations Committee investigator from March 2009 to April 2011, according to Senate records.
******
Kiriakou began making the media rounds in late 2007, when he went on the record about waterboarding techniques used in the War on Terror, particularly in connection to the torture of Abu Zubaydah in a secret prison in Thailand. (It was later revealed that Kiriakou was not actually present for that interrogation, as he had previously implied.)
If you’ve been reading Mother Jones, a lot of the content in the criminal complaint against Kiriakou will seem familiar. The main charges stem from a bizarre episode we reported on a couple years ago: In 2008 or early 2009, attorneys for alleged 9/11 conspirators held at Guantanamo Bay obtainedand showed to their clientsphoto lineups that included pictures of CIA officers and contractors. The source of the photos was John Sifton, a private investigator working for the American Civil Liberties Union’s John Adams Project, an outfit set up to provide civilian defense lawyers to the Gitmo defendants. In some cases, Sifton clandestinely photographed CIA officers who were thought to have been involved in the brutal interrogations of the 9/11 defendants.

John Kiriakou is an intelligence and counterterrorism consultant for ABC News
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-kiriakou
Mr. Kiriakou became chief of
counterterrorist operations in Pakistan immediately following the September
11 attacks. This tour culminated in the March 2002 capture of Abu
Zubaydah, al-Qaidas third-ranking official, in a raid led by Mr. Kiriakou in
Faisalabad, Pakistan.
Upon his return from Pakistan, Mr. Kiriakou was named Executive Assistant
to the CIAs Deputy Director for Operations, where he was intimately
involved in the planning for the Iraq war, and where he served as principle
Iraq briefer for the Director of Central Intelligence.
According to the Huffington/Puffington Press: “John Kiriakou is an intelligence and counterterrorism consultant for ABC News and a former senior investigator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, focusing on the Middle East, South Asia, and internationa terrorism.”
Mother Jones (left wing) has some good info at: http://motherjones.com/politics/2012/01/john-kiriakou-cia-leak-investigation that the rest of the media isn’t covering
“Kiriakou began making the media rounds in late 2007, when he went on the record about waterboarding techniques used in the War on Terror, particularly in connection to the torture of Abu Zubaydah in a secret prison in Thailand. (It was later revealed that Kiriakou was not actually present for that interrogation, as he had previously implied.)”
Just like his mentor John Kerry that it was later revealed he wasn’t actually in Cambodia that one Christmas Eve as his book implied.
Democrat CIA agents leak like a seive when Republicans are in office. They usually get away with it because Repulbicans do nothing to clean them out. Bush should have had this traitor’s head on a platter. But no, nailing Democrat operatives and political criminals would be imprudent. Can’t violate that good ole boy, across the aisle unity that stands united against justice for the “smart” people.
The left is going to come out for this treasonous political operative like he’s their new freedom fighter, Osama.
Uh oh, this guy is definitely out of favor with the Administration. He must know a little too much about Obama, that's the only reason they would try to destroy him. Obama has been doing this rather frequently lately. Things are happening to Democrat operatives one after the other. I guess being destroyed politically is better than being dead. Several of those around Obama, too.
Ironic isn't it? One traitor(Kiriakou) working for another traitor(Lurch Kerry) is arrested by the great pretender (Soetoro). Rats make verrry strange bedfellows.
...and Kiriakou ends up dead.
