Hopeless romantic or macabre publicity hound?
A Thai television directors decision to marry his dead girlfriend and post photos and video of the event to Facebook and YouTube is drawing mixed reaction from the public.
Chadil Deffy, also known as Deff Yingyuen, married his girlfriend of 10 years, Sarinya Anne Kamsook, early this month as she lay in a coffin in a wedding-cum-funeral at a temple in Surin Province, the Pattaya Daily News reported.
During the ceremony, the 28-year-old groom, wearing a black tuxedo, placed a ring on the finger of his late girlfriend, whose body was lying on a raised platform, dressed in a white bridal dress.
He put photos of himself and his dead bride on his personal Facebook page under an album titled "Corpse Bride." He also uploaded a video to YouTube.

OMG
I wish I had been there to see your face when your husband brought that skull home.
In the early ‘90’s two boys were murdered up in Vancouver,B.C.. A man happened upon one of the boy’s skulls, put it in his bicycle basket and brought it home. He was fascinated with it.
It’s amazing what you can discover about a person by their cranium. Their age, race and sex can be determined by their cranium. The nasal spine, which is the thin bone in the nose, determines the shape of the nose. I did not know that. I learned that on a forensic program.
“You don’t smell very good,honey.”
I’m curious myself.
Here comes the bride, all bloated and wide....
Yeah, I was not thrilled with that. He took it over to our brother in laws house. Then the next time they went back to the deer lease and knew the owner of the property would be there, they gave it to him.
I’d freak out. Once I got over the shock I’d probably examine it. I’m fascinated with the human body.
You said he wanted you to clean it,right?
I did wash the dirt out of it, kind of out of respect for the person but I didn’t want it to stay at our house.
Too creepy for ya?
I’d be a little apprehensive about keeping it in my house, too.
This has nothing to do with the story but the mention of "hearse" brought back memories of when I was but maybe 8 years old an uncle (in his 20s) bought a hearse from a funeral home. Did nothing to the vehicle. He told me that he even drove it on dates. He said sometimes there were three in the car on these dates.
Uncle Robert always had something off-beat to say.
Have you ever seen "Harold and Maude"?
No, I haven’t. If the photo posted comes from the movie it must somehow involve putting the “hearse” look to a sports car. I like it.
Is that just a “side item” to the movie or is it integral?
Harold is a young man who is obsessed with death. He drives a (standard) hearse. In an attempt to help him become more normal, his mother sells the hearse and presents him with a beautiful, pearl-grey jaguar.
Turns out Harold is pretty handy with tools.
Maude is a woman who eventually teaches Harold to be less fond of death and more accepting of life.
Sorry to be so tardy in responding (had to go to bed early—as usual—last night).
“Harold and Maude” sounds interesting and I’ll look into getting a DVD of it.
Did you know there’s a “body farm” at the University of Tennesee?
There are bodies in various states of decomp. Some are left out in the open, others are buried in shallow graves and some are placed under a tarp.
Gross but fascinating.
Now, having said that, I should say that it is a quirky film with a real cult following. It is quite funny, but generally in a dark way. Made in 1971, it has some slight hippie overtones but is not Liberal.
Directed by Hal Ashby, it is a well made movie will a lot of subtle touches. The holocaust is never mentioned, but if you keep your eyes open, you'll see the reference. The writer of the film felt that the previous generation (greatest generation) understood and valued life. The contemporary generation (hippies) had been given everything for free and did not understand how precious life really was. He made the movie to showcase this dichotomy.
Excellent soundtrack by Cat Stevens who is not to everyone's taste but really seems perfect for this movie.
Has he ever pulled a dead calf,,, one of those smells that doesn’t wash off, you have to let it wear off
Yes I am sure he has. He has been at it for over 50 years.
Why don’t you go to Tenn. and you can come back and tell us all about it. :D
Thanks for those comments on the film. I seem to remember that it had a cult following; that doesn’t bother me.
I always enjoy movies that have an underlying “philosophy.”
One of the joys of retirement is being able to pick and choose one’s recreational activities and exercise them when I want to. I have several: reading, walking my dogs, listening to music, looking at FR, chopping wood (I live out in the boonies and save money by burning firewood), and watching movies, with an accent on the older ones.
