KFI Radio in Los Angeles is reporting that Etta James has just passed away. Further info to follow as it becomes available.
Who is Etta James?
Sad news.
She had one of the finest singing voices I have ever heard.
God rest her.

Etta James is one of the greatest singers that have been recorded. Her passing is very sad, but it makes me feel good that all future generations will be able to enjoy her voice and her music.
Where have you been?
Let’s just say the choir in heaven just got a pretty big boost in talent.
“At Last” she can rest.
She had a hard life.
A wonderful singer. May she find peaceful and eternal life in Heaven.
Blues-soul singer. If you heard the sultry voice singing “At Last” on a car ad, you heard her. YouTube has songs like
Tell Mama, I’d Rather Go Blind etc.
The movie Cadillac Records based on Chess Records (Chuck
Berry, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Howlin Wolf) shows a
character based on her.

Starting her career in the mid 1950s, she gained fame with hits such as “Dance With Me, Henry”, “At Last”, “Tell Mama”, and “I’d Rather Go Blind” for which she claimed she wrote the lyrics.[1] She faced a number of personal problems including drug addiction before making a musical resurgence in the late 1980s with the album, The Seven Year Itch.[2]
She is regarded as having bridged the gap between rhythm and blues and rock and roll, and is the winner of six Grammys and seventeen Blues Music Awards. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in both 1999 and 2008.[3] Rolling Stone ranked James number twenty
...That’s who she is.
A very talented woman. We have two of her CDs.
This weekend I’m sure there will be salutes to her on blues radio shows (college/public radio etc.) I’m sure there will also be some of her music on Sirius-XM BB King’s Bluesville if you have that. Channel 70.
Well said.
