If you want to place Gingrich in with the GOP elite, then why is the GOP elite trying to ruin his campaign? If you want to place Gingrich in with the GOP elite, then you have to include Santorum (remember his part in the Arlen Specter issue...). That means there’s only one candidate outside this classification; that’s Ron Paul. Is that what you want?

Gingrich has what it takes to take on the MSM and Obama. The momentum is there. Either we embrace it or we may lose big come November. And even should we lose, I’d rather go down with a guy willing to fight rather one willing to embrace or nuance.

Then, why did it takes 6 months and Cain dropping out for his campaign to get above 10%? Why did he drop like a rock when hit with the Romney/Paul ads* in IA? Why did 65% of the voters in IA recently say they would prefer someone other than the 5 on the Republican primary ticket? Why did he come in 4th in both IA and NH?

*Do you think Team Obama will be nicer in the general election?

I wish I could be that optimistic, but I just don't see it. I see the GOP heading over another cliff. 1996. 2008. A potential nominee who is frequently erratic and inconsistent and apologizing for past errors, many of those past errors being only a few months old. I just do not see that as a pattern for a victory.
