But the Obamas didn't have burgers--they reportedly had steak in the private dining room.
In response to a query from CNSNews.com, the BLT restaurant chain would not provide any details of the Obamas' visit, except to say they were "quite honored to have them as our guests."
But according to one food blog--in a town famous for leaks--the President and Mrs. Obama ordered a 10-ounce American Wagyu steak, which at $81 is the second most expensive item on the menu, just behind the 12-ounce American Wagyu for $92.
Dessert reportedly was a special-order red velvet cake.
The a la carte dinner menu, posted online, shows the Obamas had plenty of food to choose from: The appetizers at BLT Steak range in price from $11 (for a Bibb lettuce salad with mustard dressing) to $34 for a dozen oysters.
Entrees range from $26 for lemon-rosemary chicken to $92 for the 12-ounce Wagyu Ribeye.
Side dishes include an $8 order of French fries or onion rings. The most expensive side dish is $13 for "Hen of the Woods" mushrooms.

Last line in the article: “The restaurant’s assistant general manager told the blog Foodorama that Michelle Obama “dines with us quite regularly.”
I’m wondering if said Assistant General Manager loses his or her job after blabbing about Ms. Food Police eating there regularly.
Just wonderfull..........Thanks to the Obama-economy I will celebrate my birthday at Steak N’Shake(And still consider myself lucky to have money to do that!!) Still would like to be one of the 1% that could afford to dine on Kobe......
Not a problem——beef is a low-residue food-—mostly absorbed thru digestive process.
I always took my wife to the best places for her birthdays and other special occasions.
So I can't fault another man for doing the same thing.
Ed
I don’t really care what they ate or spent as long as she keeps her trap shut about what I eat.
To each his own and Missus Obama should remember that if she doesn’t want criticism.
Sure does get your juices flowing.
I think we shouldnt give a rats ass what they spent on their anniversary. Hell Ive paid all I could afford and then some on some of mine. The dude is married to Moochelle Antoinette for God sake!
BLT Steak unveiled a brand new Burger Board today which includes the Obama Burger (above) that gave chef Victor Albisu the win in Eater's Obama Burger Challenge back in April. And what a phenomenal burger it was: handchopped grilled Kobe beef with Wisconsin cheese, burnt tomato ketchup, bacon and the fresh ramp mustard that won over judges and burger experts Spike Mendelsohn and Mike Bober.
The burgers will be on offer during lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and a rep tells Eater there will be no fewer than five burger options at a time on BLT Steak's Burger Board though Albisu has created more than a dozen recipes that he'll be unleashing on diners on a rotating basis.
Given the restaurant's proximity to the White House and reputation as a power dining spot, the burgers are a wink at politics a Spam and pineapple burger called "The Birth Certificate" and a VP burger made with Sloppy Joe sauce. For more burger options, check out the press release below.

Good catch!!!!!
Father’s Day of 2007, we were in the lovely town of Kamiah, ID. We stumbled on to “The Hub,” a biker bar. Not being bikers, we felt a bit uncomfortable, but after they got used to our presence, they were rather friendly. They served a Porterhouse steak for $11 that was as big as a toilet seat.
Guess I’d better run on down to the Food Lion and get some Kobe beef before the Obamaos eat it all /s
Hey, Moochelle, stop telling us what to eat, beeyotch!
PING!
She had steak, but not that it’s much better or anything, when she’s helping to ruin school lunches.
They were joined by ten friends for the 2 1/2 hour dinner party in an intimate private dining room, which ended with a candle-topped Red Velvet birthday cake. Guests included Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett and Attorney General Eric Holder and his wife Dr. Sharon Malone. Mrs. Obama is something of a regular at BLT Steak, which features an “Obama Burger” on the lunch menu, and is located just a few blocks from the White House. The First Lady last had dinner there with a girlfriend on January 6th. (Above: The President and Mrs. Obama on Tuesday afternoon at the White House)
“The First Lady dines with us quite regularly,” BLT assistant general manager Matt Wright, who did double duty as a server for the birthday party, told Obama Foodorama.
Steak is an Obama favorite for special occasions: It was served as the entree for every high profile White House dinner in 2011. And steak is what everyone celebrating Mrs. Obama’s birthday ordered, according to Wright. The First Lady was clad in black for her birthday outfit—”with pearls,” said Wright, and the party was all smiles as they arrived for the 7:00 PM dinner.
For dinner, the President and Mrs. Obama both enjoyed American Wagyu Top Cap, which is served in a 10 0z portion ($81). Executive Chef Victor Albisu personally did the cooking, which earned him a hug and warm thanks from the First Lady at the end of the evening. Side dishes were family style for the table, and included French Fries, Mashed Potatoes, Caramelized Brussel Sprouts with Bacon, Creamed Spinach, and Hen of the Woods Mushrooms. Appetizers ordered for the table to share were also steak: The American Wagyu Skirt Steak (10 0z, $55) and 28-Day Dry Aged New York Strip (16 0z, $46). House-made sauces are served with the steaks, and include Horseradish, Peppercorn, 3 Mustards, and “Steak” sauce.
The house signature bread is a huge, fluffy Popover, served piping hot to guests after ordering, accompanied by a salt shaker the size of a pint of milk. The Obama party enjoyed red and white wine with their dinner, Wright said. He was joined by two other managers who performed the duties of servers.
The birthday cake was Red Velvet, which is not on the BLT menu but served because it is “a favorite” of the First Lady’s, Wright said. There was no inscription on top, thanks to a crumb topping, and the cake was accompanied by Cream Cheese Ice Cream. Heavy security presence...including in the kitchen
BLT remained open to diners during the Obama party, but Secret Service were everywhere, including in the kitchen, observing Albisu cooking, Wright said. http://obamafoodorama.blogspot.com/2012/01/president-obama-takes-first-lady-to.html
