Israeli metropolis beats New York and Toronto in poll naming best urban destinations for gay travellers

Tel Aviv has been named the world's number one gay city. The Israeli metropolis beat out competition from New York to top a survey carried out by American Airlines and GayCities.com to find the most popular destination for gay travellers.

It landed a staggering 43 per cent of the vote, way ahead of runner-up New York's 14 per cent and third-placed Toronto with 7 per cent.

Sao Paolo came in at four with 6 per cent, while rounding out the top five with 5 per cent each were London and Madrid. GayCities described Tel Aviv as 'the gay capital of the Middle East is exotic with a Mediterranean c'est la vie attitude'.

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai hailed his 'free city' and said he is proud of the survey results.

I'll try to avoid both American Airlines and Tel Aviv.

Nobody's going to SF anymore?

Oh, I forgot...most of them live there.

Two points:

1.) This ranking of Tel Aviv can’t possibly be true. Homosexuals are a key constituency of the Marxist Party and the marxist party and it’s fuehrer, Maobama, hates Israel. Do they think that their buddies pushing the caliphate are going to allow open homosexuality in Tel Aviv if/when it’s part of the caliphate?

2.) Where is Traverse City, Michigan in the ranking? They just voted special rights for antiheterosexuals.

I suspect that Tel Aviv is such a gay "Mecca" is because it attracts a lot of Arabs who wouldn't dare come out in their home towns.

This poll is antisemitic driven, there's no other explanation needed.
SF is by far the gayest city on the hill.

a survey carried out by American Airlines and GayCities.com to find the most popular destination for gay travellers.

Not really a surprise. The proximity to the holy city Jerusalem surely must attract those who by nature seek to defile and debase all that is good and sacred.

SF is by far the gayest city on the hill.

There is discrepancy between the title and the text. It seems the title should have been 'most popular tourist destination for gays' (hence AA involvement) rather 'best gay city'. Still not sure why Tel Aviv is #1, though.

Wait a minute. Tourism is a major business category in San Francisco. I can’t believe that a major tourist destination overall, which has a huge homosexual community, would not also attract big numbers of homosexual tourists.

Well, what do I know. I’m sure we have to read between the lines with stories such as this.

I've never particularly been a fan of Tel Aviv. I mean it's nice that they have Hebrew signs there, but it's just a city to me. That said, I've never had any sense there of overt homosexuality the way I do when I'm in New York. (Of course I'm in NYC much more than TA, but still!)

eggs-actly (pun majorly intended).. All of the freak shows, and all.. Full of sick mental people there.. at least they are mostly in 1 city and not too spread out at the same ratio :p (It would make me jump off a bridge.. Honestly, thank God I am in a place that it is still not publicly accepted..)

I would tell peeps here in Japan that San Fran is a separate country, if I could convince them :/

Huh... funny, but I don’t think I ever heard Israel and sexual perversion mentioned in the same sentence before.

By the way, I’m a little surprised that Bangkok, Thailand isn’t mentioned as a destination city for perverts.

Jerusalem is religious, Tel Aviv is secular.

Jerusalem is "Jewish", Tel Aviv is "Israeli".

Jerusalem is right wing, Tel Aviv is left wing.

Jerusalem is Nashville, Tel Aviv is San Fransisco.
