We will have to wait for Flycatcher to show up to give us his expert opinion.

Crows used to pester my old boston terrier like that every day. Then one day I got sick of it and went out in the yard with a bb gun and killed one and my boston ate it. They left her alone after that.

Oh yes. They are extremely smart. They actually used to imitate my dog’s bark. They’d repeat every sound my dog made. When my dog got tired of chasing them, one would swoop down to her food bowl and steal some food just to get her mad enough to chase again. The poor dog was just about tormented to the point of collapse when I decided to do something about it.

Thanks for the ping.

I'm not a birder but Flycatcher got me interested and recommended a very good book. Unfortunately it doesn't show a crow like this but I found one on the Internet, seems they're called a white crow though this one isn't all white. The link shows one almost identical to the one in the video though.

It’s against the law here to harm them :/ (we can’t even own a bb-gun here >.<).. BUT, I had heard of a suggestion from another expat here that works :)

Load up your super splasher water gun (or whatever they are called) with vinegar and shoot the birds.. they learn the first time ;)

One of the neighborhood crows today was divebombing a hawk perched on the roof of a neighboring townhouse. Squawked and made six or seven passes close to its head, but the hawk just ignored the agitated crow. Guess this explains the scattering of dove feathers outside my bird feeder this week. The crow did not want its fellow crows to become the next meal.
