Today I want to write about something that has bothered me for the better part of a decade. Ive carved out no fewer than a dozen drafts of this post, all strangely unalike, all ultimately failing to accomplish the job Ive set out to do. Truth is, Ive been trying to write it off and on for more than a year now, and the right words have been seemingly impossible to come by.
In the end, and in order to post it, I guess I had to care more about the message than I do about potential backlash. Im not being facetious when I say that I hope I can get this message across without offending well everybody.
What I really hope is that this post will spark and encourage poignant and worthwhile discussion that will lead to some poignant and worthwhile changes in the lives of at least a few people who are hurting.
That being said, I believe some strong words need to be said today.
God hates fags. Weve all seen the signs being waved high in the air by members of the Westboro Baptist church. On TV. In real life. Its hard not to take notice.
Over the years, Ive watched seemingly never-ending disgustingness and hatred spill across the media airwaves from those who belong to the organization. For those who dont know much about that church, they have made a seedy name for themselves by doing drastic things like picketing beneath atrocious signs and hosting flagrant anti-gay protests at military funerals.

“There is wishful thinking in Hell as well as on Earth.”
“As sophistry goes, this is in a class all by itself.”
Only misleading to those who don’t understand it. Lack of knowledge and/or understanding does not create sophistry. Or else I could say the same thing about the directions for programming the DVR!
A much better question would be, “Does anyone remember when he/she began to lust?”
After reading these posts I guess I’m intolerant and a bigot. If you want to be gay then STFU.
1) Bit surprised he's a dad.
2) Not surprised he's single.
I am not too sure of this, but doesn’t scripture also say to shun the public sinner if he does not repent?
“Im just sick and tired of having their lifestyle stuffed in my face, 24/7.
Guess that makes me intolerant.”
Same here. I do a fair amount of work with gays and lesbians. What I have often found is that they carry a lot of inner guilt for the contradiction between their lifestyle and and what they learned as a child. Thus they try to justify their behavior by self measuring their ability to convince others that their lifestyle is acceptable. That’s why they become activists. A person who is comfortable with themselves has no need to convince others that they are correct.
I had one case where a young woman attended catholic school K-12 and had a very controlling mother. So controlling that the daughter could never form a self identity and was locked in a strong controlling dependency relationship. When the daughter attended the college of her mother’s choice and her mother’s selection of major, she was finally away from her mother’s strong control.
She had a lesbian affair, went home and told her mother she was a lesbian. The mother screamed, “Then you are no daughter of mine!” The daughter had instantaneously achieved the separation from her mother she had been trying to obtain since age 12.
The daughter, having no sense of self identity was very weak and thus needed a peer group in order to find her identity. There are few peer groups as strong and self validating as the gay and lesbian communities. They congratulated her on coming out and being one of them. She became a lesbian activist, i.e. if she could convince others it was ok, then she could believe it too.
Ten years later, when she came to me she was emotionally empty, drained and suicidal. (And still fighting the battle with her mother) By pointing out her inner conflict and why she was motivated in the behavior pattern she chose, it empowered her to find who she really was. I did not judge her, but I pointed out that she was judging herself. I did not have to condemn her behavior, she was already beating herself up pretty bad. I have found the same thing in people who cheat on their spouses. Guilt can be far more torture than a penetrating knife.
From the book of Matthew:
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Now, from Leviticus (that’s the law He was referring to.)
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Jesus did not invalidate the law, as He pointed out. God ordained at the beginning that we were to be male and female. Anything else is outside God’s law and therefore, wrong. And those who go outside of that, well:
From Matthew:
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
“That I didnt choose this sounds like a serial killer at sentencing.”
The choice to enter a same sex relationship is totally based upon what is intellectually acceptable. Attraction is toward the masculine or feminine aspect of consciousness in a person. Even gay relationships have this balance. If a gay lifestyle is not intellectually acceptable, a feminine man will just look for a relationship with a woman who wears the pants. The reverse is also true for a masculine woman. This is easy to prove.
Often a straight male can not deal with the stimulation experienced by the energy of a feminine man,as it is intellectually unacceptable to them. This is what creates the inner turmoil often associated with gay bashing.
I’m not judging. These statements are the result of a lot of research working with gays and straight over the past twenty years.
Thank you for such a great post.
“WE desperately need Gods help to reform our culture and I am CONVINCED that our economic woes are merely another part of our turning our backs on God and His ways in our society.”
Amen!!!
But I think you hit it out of the ballpark with this line:
"Love became defined as sex and the notion of divorce mushroomed as many could not get enough satisfactory sex with one partner for life."
That's a veritable home run with the bases loaded.
What Jesus said just after the words you referred to strikes me as central; John 8:
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
"Go and sin no more". 1. With these simple words, Jesus confirms that sexual conduct outside marriage can be a sin. 2. Tied to that recognition, Jesus is offering forgiveness for past sins. 3. Jesus is following the forgiveness he offers with a command to sin no more. I am with you completely in deferring to Jesus for guidance on these issues. What lesson do you take away from the whole story, if it's different from what I see?
“confuse the term love with our post modern sense that if we love somebody we dare not question what they do that puts them in danger of the fire to come”
As a parent, I often practiced “tough love” as I loved my children. Parents with this incorrect view of love have created children and a society with an entitlement mentality that will keep them in a dependency and they will never find true freedom.
We must also use that same tough love on the people in our prisons.
The rise of the popularity of the God of Tolerance. No thanks.
It’s another part of the Marxist “Long March Through the Institutions” elucidated by Gramsci as a way to bring about World Communism by undermining the fabric of countries like ours.
The Gays, whose whole mental landscape and sense of self is Narcissistically defined by where they put their penis, are merely useful idiots. They are being played, but their improved status will be short-lived - and entirely reversed - once the Revolution is complete.
While I do believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, gay or not, and all that....that does not mean that their lifestyle should be considered on equal teams with heterosexuality. And that any time the militant gay agenda tries to attack what they refer to as “heteronormality”, it must be met with resistance. I’m willing to let them live their lives, but they keep attacking our institutions and demand we get rid of them to accomodate them, that must not stand.
Actually, quite a few people do remember that. Most "homosexuals" describe their orientation as someplace on a spectrum from completely straight to completely gay. One I know well and used to work with describes his reasons for going purely gay as "too much work to score with women". Many of those in that in-between spectrum make a choice, either because it's easier socially or because it's God's command, to live as a heterosexual. That is a virtuous choice, and one just as much in keeping with "who they really are" as my choice not to have sex outside marriage even if the woman is really gorgeous, sexy, and willing. There is not much virtue in following God's commands when that is simply what you would have done without God's guidance. I see far more virtue in placing God's will above our own and living our lives by the guidance He has given us, even when that is against our first inclination.
“that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
And I always thought His next words were... “Knock it off Mom! Put those stones down!”
“What lesson do you take away from the whole story, if it’s different from what I see?”
We are in agreement. That is why Jesus said.. John 10 I think... “I have not come to judge, but to save.”
So what if they do? They're wrong. If homosexuals had any confidence in their position, they wouldn't give a damn what others thought about it. What did Davy Crockett say in the old Disney movies? Be sure you're right then go ahead. They simply doubt that they are right and resent those that disagree. Look. I love my brother. But he is a raging alcoholic. I help him where I can, and where I think it will be good for him, but I don't let him drain me, and he knows what I think about his actions.
