My family members are ALL black Democrats. Every one of them fell in love with Obama at first sight.

Is Obama really African-American?

You can rest assured that Obama will not be blamed and is not being blamed for all that's going on. It's still all Bush's fault. I know because I am acquainted with a local elderly Black lady--a very nice and wonderful person--who, from what I understand, thinks exactly like this. Despite being a religious Fundamentalist she regards George W. Bush as "the Devil" and defends Obama. Nevertheless she believed all the rumors about Herman Cain. And if she's ever even heard of abortion I wouldn't know about it.
What on earth is the matter with these people???
They'll vote 'black' regardless of the consequences.
I think that disenchantment with Obama is widespread. Case in point:
I went home to California in April 2010 for my dad's 80th birthday celebration. It was a gathering of the clan, so to speak, and all of my immediate family, including nieces and nephews were there.
During the four days I was out there, not a single one of them mentioned Obama's name - even when we got into a political discussion over dinner. What I found surprising, is that for once, they all sat quietly and listened as I gave them my take on the current political scene, and specifically how Obama and the Democrats in Congress were taking the country over a cliff.
In times past, they would have ganged up on me, and beat me down with the usual liberal debate tactics. Not this time. I could tell that they were honestly confused and disappointed by Obama's many failures and departures from traditional American leadership.
One last thing....there wasn't a single Obama bumper sticker in sight. Telling...
There is no dilemma. They will vote for him. Their racism is stronger than their self interest.
It's a tough lesson for a lot of blacks to learn, but at least some of them are having their eyes opened. I've seen it happening in my own family.
They may not be ready to jump ship from the Democrats, but they've definitely had their bubble bursted by the Marxist in Chief.
But, how do you explain all Arab names in his father's family?
Barrack is an Arabic name.
Barack بارك, Bārak
Hussein is an Arabic name.
HUSSEIN حسين

Now you explain it.
In actual fact he was a member of the Luo tribe of Kenya, who are based on the west side of the country farthest from Arab/Muslim influence.
The Luo are not Arabs, they are Bantu blacks, though of course there could always be a Semite somewhere in the family's woodpile.
I think this attempt to parse a candidate's "bloodline" to determine "what he really is" to be unworthy of conservatives. There are LOTS of legitimate reasons to critize the guy, not based on who his grandparents might have been.
Sadly, I see similar numbers when it comes to Mormons supporting Romney. Beck, et al, can rant all they want about their reasons for supporting him, but at the end of the day, Mormons want a Mormon (gives the religion credibility?).
Ah, yes, the ol' racist "one drop" rule.
As a pardo myself, I honestly do not give a damn about DNA, and what sort of racial mix anyone is. Like most Americans, I'm so far past that point, that it wearies me to even have to talk about it.
Still, it's something that has to be confronted, because it simply IS. It's why I posted the article. For whatever reason, most blacks have intentionally herded themselves into a separate group, and supported Obama because he was 'one of them', never bothering to examine his background, his record, or his stated policies.
For some blacks, Obama is a crushing real life lesson in the pitfalls of race identity politics and leftist governance.
Where do they live?
Simple solution for Blacks.
He is 1/2 White.
He is 3/8 Arab.
He is 1/8 Black African.
Now does that make him Black?
NO - and it doesn’t make him an African American either! His first lie to us!
I agree with you—yes, there’s widespread disenchantment with Obama. But whether black people vote against him this year depends entirely on who we run against him. They aren’t going to be of the “anybody but Obama” mindset unless they’re die-hard ex-military or broken-glass conservatives.
I do have some black friends who are really angry and disappointed with him and would never vote for him. Have some others who are angry and disappointed with him, but they aren’t going to vote for a fat pink white-haired Southerner, no matter how smart he is. Others are angry and disappointed with Obama, but even if they don’t want to vote for him, they’re appalled by some of the racist stuff they see about him and about his wife.
Star Parker is right on the money. She still lives in the black community, and is reporting what she's seeing with her own eyes.
The vast majority of blacks may not be ready to vote against Obama, but they sure aren't going to turn out in the numbers that they did in 2008 to support his re-election. Like Star said, they're hurting worse now, than before he was elected.
Too many of them bought the messiah hype, and now feel betrayed because he hasn't delivered.
The problem isn’t his race—its the fact that he’s incompetent. A good competent leader would have helped all Americans and the poorest the most—He can not do it because he isn’t a good leader—my bet is he wasn’t a very good community organizer.
Who cares whether the man is racially mixed or not? That's only important to liberals who buy into race identity politics.
The important lesson to draw here, is that we can never again afford to elect someone who doesn't share our national history, and our American values.
Leaving race aside, Obama's disconnect with the American people stems from the fact that he was born with split allegiances, due to his father not being an American citizen. As if that weren't bad enough, his mother and grandparents were abject Commies, who marinated him in those counterfeit ideals during his entire upbringing.
Here you go. January 2008. Black voters were just starting to warm up to Barry.
While it's true that the majority of blacks continue to support Obama, they're not going to come out and vote for him in near the numbers they did in 2008.
My whole family is composed of black liberal Democrats, so I can tell you that Star Parker has it right. I've seen the same disappointment among blacks that she has.
In the three years Obama's been in the White House, the whole country has experienced near-Depression type economic distress. It's even worse in the black community, and blacks aren't so hypnotized that it never crosses their mind that the boss isn't getting the job done.
Many of them may excuse his abject failures by blaming Bush and the Republicans for it, but at the end of the day, Obama just wasn't the all-powerful god they thought he was. He couldn't turn around what they perceived as "Bush's" economy, and that's a failure, no matter how bad you want to ignore it.
Never mind the fact that they're not assigning correct cause to the observed effect. Obama fails, even when they buy the lie that it's not his fault.
