Gwyneth Paltrow’s New $425 GOOP Cleanse ‘A Waste Of Time And Money,’ Say Doctors

Gwyneth Paltrow released her GOOP newsletter, Jan. 5, promoting her GOOP cleanse kit, which costs $425, but doctors interviewed by HollywoodLife say cleanses have ‘no scientific proven’ value and are ‘complete bunk’!

Don’t spend your money or your effort subjecting yourself to actress Gwyneth Paltrow‘s “cleanse” or anyone else’s, say top NYC doctors.

“‘Cleansing’ is the equivalent of ’snake oil,’” says NYC internist, Dr. Robert Bos.

He adds that “there is no scientific proof” that a cleanse will help give your digestive system a break, eliminate toxins, rebuild beneficial bacteria or give you more energy, as Gwyneth promises in her GOOP newsletter.

Gwyneth’s cleanse program instructs you to drink her protein shake for breakfast, have a solid meal for lunch, another shake for dinner and take her GOOP “clean” supplements (which aren’t explained) throughout the day.

She claims that her cleanse will give “your digestive system a break” and will also “improve energy levels by bringing in high-quality vitamins and nutrients.” She also claims that her program will “rebuild beneficial bacteria” and “eliminate toxins,” and she says she has lost weight doing this in the past.

The cost of her GOOP cleanse is $425!

Now here’s what top doctors had to say about her claims:

Talk about something I'm dreading. My Doctor mentioned that last time I saw him; I'll wait another year or two for that exam.

You know what's funny is that all these 'cleanse' things inevitably mention how John Wayne was autopsied and had a lot of undigested meat (pounds of it) in his large intestine. Sounded nasty and I knew someone who was parroting the same thing so I looked into it and it's an urban legend. I don't recommend doing the same thing as I ended up reading things you will want to scrub your eyes out with Clorox to forget.

It sucks to have such a thing associated with a man's man like John Wayne.

Also those health and body salons use tout the Ion foot bath de-tox treatments [the salon went out of business by me]..the foot bath water turns colors and/or black from organ drainage from the kidneys, liver, etc said bringing out all the bad stuff out of your system. All this stuff is allowed in the US as falls under some Natural herbalistic type category. This International scam originated in the UK.

1) How did the spa go out of business by you, sounds interesting?

2) That sounds like those foot pads that supposedly leech the 'toxins' out of your system and turn brown as a result. I saw somewhere that they tested the end result and the color was oxidation, no heavy metals or 'toxins'.

Made up? The majority of humans are lactose intolerant because they, like just about every other mammal, ‘turn off’ the gene for the enzyme lactase shortly after they cease being nursed.

In most Northern European populations, and some cattle herding African populations - there is a mutation in the control region that would result in the lactose gene being packaged up (i.e. turned off) in chromatin after breast milk was no longer part of the daily diet.

As a result some populations continue to produce lactase (the enzyme that digests lactose - the sugar in milk) throughout their life.

YAY ICE CREAM!!!!

I've used Goop for years.

Never paid no $425 for it though.

$425?

As the wise W.C Fields once said “A fool and his money were lucky to get together in the first place.”

I will say, though, at least Paltrow is easy on the eyes. Unlike the creepy guy I see hawking the same kind of product when the late night infomercials come on:

Elvis abused so many drugs that his intestines didn't know if they were coming or going. At autopsy, he was found to be severely impacted. Severe as in severe.

There are some “cleansing” products that work, but only when you have a condition they will improve in the first place.

For example, if you have poor digestion, psyllium husks, similar to psyllium seed, like Metamucil, will give the fiber and bulk to improve intestinal tone and speed up your digestion somewhat.

After the stomach uses acid to digest food, it uses bile to neutralize the acid before the somewhat digested food goes into the small intestines. The bile is then reabsorbed and reused. However, bile also tends to accumulate unwanted metals that are also recirculated. For this reason, at long intervals, it is good to consume “water soluble fiber”, because it tends to bind with bile so that it is flushed from the body, so that the liver makes fresh bile.

If you live and work in a temperate place, and don’t sweat a lot, a trip to a sauna could help you skin considerably, as sweat is one means the body uses to eliminate toxins.

There are a bunch of other cleansing techniques that work, but again, only if you need them. Most people don’t.

It's the Gwynnith stimulus program (billfold bulge). Is she donating the profits to democrat re-elections?
