DA is a very enjoyable series with many layers of intrigue, deception, and complex interpersonal relationships.
You’re a woman, right?
I LOVE Downton Abbey. Thanks for the heads-up.
Watching the last episode of season one now: Matthew and Mary might hook up.
G. Beck would call this earning `bonnet’ credits towards football viewing.
That one footman, forget his name (the fartknocker) is a real stinker.
With all the horrible stuff that is on TV today, this series is a breath of fresh air.
I can hardly wait until Sunday night.
I highly recommend that those of you who haven’t seen it,,,spend the weekend watching Season One on Netflix and then you’ll be ready for Season Two. :-)
Love, love, love! Can’t wait! :)
I saw this program advertised on PBS today. My curiosity has gone up and now I want to see it. Does Netflix caption the series, do you know?
Thanks for the reminder...my wife and I have been waiting with anticipation for the second series to come out.
I was wondering if a fan would post something. I heard season 2 is even better than the first, how can that be possible???? Word is, you’ll like people you hated in the first season. Wonder if O’Brien makes amends for her dastardly deed done to Her Ladyship.
This is really the only thing that makes me sad I don’t have a TV. I watched DA online last year, but it will be awhile before I can do that again with Season 2. I do love it.
Oooh! Ooooh!
Yesh, yesh!
Watched Season 1 ep.3 w/ Mom & Dad for Christmas.
I ‘splained all that hootenanny to the folks (there’s nothing else on ‘cept this), and then when THIS is over, there’s Masterpiece Classic doing a reduex of Anne somebody.
Neither Mom, Dad nor myself could finger out what the heck is going on in Jane Austen’s story. Nobody could finger it out; Mom didn’t know who was doing who’s laundry, Dad just didn’t know what to make of it at all; I figured I’d leave it well enough alone.
Thanks for the heads up! I too love this show!
Mrs. Prince of Space
Bad acting, bad writing, and bad accents!
The manners and mores of the era portrayed are alone worth their weight in gold.
The Brits sure know how to do historically-based dramatic series. One of their other outstanding goodies was "Lillie" based on the liason between King Edward VII and his mistress, the "Jersey Lily", Lillie Langtry.
It's worth buying the boxed taped series.

When I heard that the series was well done I watched the first and second seasons as well as the Christmas special in one marathon session. I enjoyed it very much but now have to wait until at least September for the next episodes. :(
Settle in with a spot of tea or a glass of sherry for the third episode of this season's series.
Sunday night telly has now become an avidly-awaited evening instead of the vast wasteland it had become.
Post your apres-episode comments and critiques here as we watch new twists and turns unfold before our very eyes !
Cheerio and pip, pip.....

A wonderful one-kleenex job tonight. At last!
We needed that!

G’morning, dukes and duchesses, barons and baronesses, earls and earlesses (oh, my)....a gentle reminder that our favorite period drama airs tonight on Masterpiece Theater.
What romantic entanglements and diabolical schemes will play out as we finally plop down on the couch to relax, a hot cuppa at our side, after an exhausting week of U.S. political intensity on our tellys?
Enjoy your evening, m’lords and ladies. Bookmark this thread and post your comments about tonight’s episode when you’ve come back down to earth after an hour’s worth of heaven.
Cheerio,
Leni/MinuteGal
Found an interesting blog on the cast of DA and pics of them out of their characters’ costumes and make up. Look for Mrs. Hughes!
