A young Oklahoma mother shot and killed an intruder to protect her 3-month-old baby on New Year's Eve, less than a week after the baby's father died of cancer.
Sarah McKinley says that a week earlier a man named Justin Martin dropped by on the day of her husband's funeral, claiming that he was a neighbor who wanted to say hello. The 18-year-old Oklahoma City area woman did not let him into her home that day.
On New Year's Eve Martin returned with another man, Dustin Stewart, and this time was armed with a 12-inch hunting knife. The two soon began trying to break into McKinley's home.
As one of the men was going from door to door outside her home trying to gain entry, McKinley called 911 and grabbed her 12-gauge shotgun.

Was he “Justin” the door?
Keyword added to include it in the "banglist" subforum.
Isn't it pathetic that you can get a custom made pizza, delivered to your door faster than the police can get there? And the Delivery folk don't even have sirens or lights on their cars.
I like that it mentions in your article that one of the invaders apparently called 911 for an ambulance because his friend had gotten shot. Duh.

The banglist consists of those with great interest in weaponry; specifically, those that go ‘bang’....
Thank you very much for the follow-up link.
banglist = keyword
add to any stories related to guns, second amendment issues, self-defense, concealed carry, firearms legislation, etc.
It took them 21 minutes to break into a house? They need to find another line of work. One on them, anyway. These guys are more incompetent than the dorks in “Home Alone”.
On the good side, the predator had 21 minutes to bleed out before the ambulance got there with his toe tag. I'm okay with that delay.
What a scumbag, preying on a young widow. I hope he suffered before he died. I hope it hurt.
Thanks. I need more education re: firearms so the keyword will come in handy. I like anything that explodes, too.
If you click on the link, it appears that there is a police identification picture of the deceased scumbag. Probably not a virgin in the crime world at 24yo. I suspect that his demise prevented a great number of future crimes.

Doesn’t it warm the cockles of your heart?
A surgeon offered to remove my cockles, theorizing that I don’t use them and they’ll only give me trouble later anyway, but I refused.
“I read so many stories where the 911 operator tries to talk down the person defending themselves...kudos to this operator for saying I cant tell you that you can do that but you do what you have to do to protect your baby,”
Agreed, this was pretty gutsy.
The more I read about TX/OK, the more I like the idea of living there.
“The more I read about TX/OK, the more I like the idea of living there.”
AZ has very nice firearms legislation. AZ department of revenue, though, is reprehensible.
thanks for that link to the follow up story. This women recognizes the kind acts of others when so much bad has visited her.
You did good in keeping them from removing your cockles; otherwise, you’d have nothing to be warmed.
In my case, I have to keep them from removing my spleen, otherwise I’d have nothing to vent.
Not only that but she pushed the couch in front of the door and... “for an agonizing 21 minutes, she listened to the men try to break in. “He was from door to door trying to bust in, just going from door to door,” said McKinley. “I waited till he got in the door. They said I couldn’t shoot him until he was inside the house. So I waited until he got in the door and then I shot him.”

Why “can’t” they tell someone any thing?
Is this written down somewhere? Is this a policy, rule, law, suggestion, snide remark, what?
It would be interesting to know just exactly what that might be, verbatim.
