Back in June of 2010 a leader of a pro-Palestinian student group at University of Berkeley allegedly rammed a Jewish woman with a shopping cart as she staged a counter-protest to an anti-Israel “Apartheid Week” rally conducted by the Muslim Student Association and Students for Justice in Palestine. The counter-protest was dubbed “Israel Wants Peace Week.”
Now, U.S. District Court Judge Richard Seeborg has deemed that the Muslim students who harassed Jessica Felber and other Jewish students were simply engaging in protected political speech.

Karl's father Heinrich was not of "distant paternal Jewish ancestry." He was descended from a long line of prominent rabbis, with his father the latest in the line, and was raised Jewish, converting to Lutheranism shortly before Karl was born.
Karl's mother was born into a wealthy Dutch Jewish family, the one that later founded the Phillips Electronics firm. I have no info on whether she ever formally converted.
By Jewish law, of course, Karl was a Jew. Not to mention under the Nuremberg Laws, if they float your boat.
Karl’s mother was Henrietta Pressburg. Her grandfather was Jewish, which is the only confirmed Jewish relative.
She was Lutheran. Her baptismal records can be found by googling her name.
Karl’s father was raised in a secular household and converted to Luteranism before Karl was born.
Karl was baptised a Lutheran as a child, and had no Jewish training of any kind.
He was married to Johanna Bertha in a Lutheran church.
Looks pretty much like a run-of-the mill Lutheran to me.
Yes, but my hope would be that this judge is not really German, but was born in Germany to American (military) parents.
Landstuhl near Kaiserslautern has (or had?) a very large U.S. military presence, after all.

Actually, the Nuremberg laws required 3 (if you practiced Judaism) or 4 (if you converted out) Jewish grandparents.
The laws also considered parent’s conversions from Judaism valid if they occurried before 1898. (I believe I have that date right; I could be off a decade.)
Anyway, since Karl died way before and his father was a Lutheran, he would have been clear under the Nuremburg laws.
Actually, Karl had 4 Jewish grandparents. So I think he would have been in trouble under Nuremberg.
I think it is interesting that the Nuremberg Laws were not nearly as severe against Mischlings as most people assume. A far cry from the “one drop rule,” anyway.
Actually, I understand his father’s mother was not Jewish, which is why he was basically kicked out of the Marx family and was unable to train as a Rabbi.
She had attempted to convert, but Marx (the dad) was a Cohen (their actual name was “Levi”) and thus not eligible to marry a convert, so he left Judaism altogether. It had nothing to do with employment.
Marx’s mom was of some sort of mixed heritage; I would have to ask my wife -— she is actually kin to this crew (along with Adm. Hyman Rickover, which is ironic as heck), which is the only reason I know this.

Of course, she “converted” before Karl was born, but there is more to the story. I believe her father was Jewish and also married a gentile, as with Karl’s father.
I do recall that she was somehow mentally afflicted and unable to read or write, not that that is relevant.

Take a good look at those who control our two political parties. You will find that most hide behind two facades, The first facade has some proclaiming they are Republican others Democrat. Peal away the first facade to find a second facade where all of them claim to be progressives. Behind that second facade you find their core political philosophy, communist/socialist.
Our two party system is really one party where they work hand in hand to destroy this nation as a bastion of freedom with torch held high where it can be seen world wide by those who yearn for those same freedoms.
The world wide communist/socialist utopia can not be attained as long as we exist.
