I’ve only been bitten three times in my life. One time was more of a snap instead of a bite. All three times were by German Shepards. Two of them were mine. One was a pup and bit me when he was three months old. All I did was walk behind him and his tail brushed my leg. He whipped around and grabbed my leg. He went back to the breeder ASAP. The other one was a two year old male that my husband got from a friend. He snapped at me, my husband, and my daughter. We gave him back. The third one belonged to a neighbor. I was walking and he ran from his yard to the road to bite me. I swatted him with my walking stick just as the owner called him back to the yard. I didn’t make a fuss about it because I love dogs but he was fenced after that.

No more GSD’s for us. They are the only dog I’m afraid of.

We got a shep pup at 6 wks. He seems docile and very even-tempered but we have our house fenced all around and we never get robbed. He looks pretty mean when strangers approach. I have a 7 yr. old and 15 yr. old daughter. He loves to track shadows, birds, butterflys,etc..never shown any aggression toward us.We had a professional trainer check out his temperment. First dog I ever got. I hope my Shep does not turn on us as you describe....

When I was a little girl I saw a German Sheipard sitting on the step of his front porch. He looked nice, so I walked over and sat down beside hinm,. He snapped at me with a growl, and I was out of there! But my three German Shepards were beautifully trined and loyal do9gs. I doubt they would have snapped at a small child. In fact I had three daughters, and many friendss coming and going with no problems.

Other than the Boston Terrier I now own, Shephards are my favorite breed of dog.

In the mid 60’s a neighbor kid used to run a stick along my family’s fence every day on his way home from school to antagonize our German Shepherd. One day the dog quit barking and the kid stuck his face in a knot-hole and got his nose bit off.

My parents paid the medical bills and that was that. In today’s society, the dog would have gotten shot and lawsuit hell would have come to play.
