Is this it?
Stock up now.
Oh, it will, my friend. Tomorrow, the sheeple will be informed of it by the MSM, after it's too late.
Ain’t that the absolute, completely obvious truth.
Imagine how many Honeywell thermostats there are in your town.
Now imagine how many CFL bulbs have been forced upon the residents of your town just this year.
Now consider. Ever hear of a Honeywell thermostat shattering for any reason?
Ever?
Actually there was a bill signed on December 16 that has supposedly delayed the ban until Oct 2012. I am all stocked up and then I hear this.
Buy the replacement 72 watt halogen incandescent which has the same lumen output and 5000 hrs avg. life.
We also purchased dozens from Amazon. ;-)
“”Actually there was a bill signed on December 16 that has supposedly delayed the ban until Oct 2012. I am all stocked up and then I hear this.””
I think FR had a thread on it but I couldn’t remember the postponed date - as you say “supposedly”... Guess we’ll see!
The Government banned Thomas Edison’s invention because it was old. By the same logic they should ban passenger trains, they are money losing, generate carbon, and nobody even wants to take them but for government’s war on parking.
Stalin would be proud.
Happy New Year
Thought they overturned the ban for at least a year? That was the news prior to Xmas Day.
Incandescent light bulb ban put on hold.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The traditional incandescent light bulb won a nine-month reprieve late Thursday from new federal rules that would have led to its demise.....

Interesting.
Thanks good advice I should look into those.
Do they get hot?
About 10 years ago I brought home a floor lamp, one of those with the light at the top. It had a halogen bulb, one of those maybe 4” horizontally mounted narrow glass rod types which mounts with contacts at each end - at some point I replaced the bulb and seemed to have put in one which was too bright - it got just blistering hot. Smelled like it would burn the place down, and I never tried one again.
Do you use a newer model, one of those 100w equivalent? Do they have one with a true watt measure less than 100 (thus within the new guideline) which is actually brighter than a 100w?
That I could go for, if it’s brighter than a 100w incandescent, but doesn’t get terribly hot.
I’ll have to review what’s available next time I’m in a bulb aisle.
FoxNews was reporting this morning that the ban goes into effect at midnight. I don’t know for sure.
So what are the chances Republicans will actually work to overturn the ban?
Yes I know. It sounds like a rhetorical question, even to me.
I heard this zzzzz noise, and looked up, and that thing was smoking, and I could smell the burnt-electronics odor. The fumes were coming out of the vent holes in the ceramic base, and I'd only had it installed for a few days.
They don't last NEARLY as long as they're touted. I've had a few of them last three years, mostly in my outdoors security light, which is photo-controlled, so that it only does one on/off cycle per day.
But other than that, they suck. They aren't what they're touted to be. Their weakness is in the starter. They can't handle large numbers of on/off cycles.
They claim "7 year warranty" and I've had some who claim "9 year warranty".
Nonsense. Who holds onto a light bulb receipt for 9 years, just so they can ship a box full of bad bulbs back to the manufacturer? It's too much hassle.
They stink. Literally.
My fave started out, “This bulbs is 100W, which makes it 100 times brighter than Congress”.
The ones that really tick me off are the 3 way ones. I like three way lights, and this has essentially outlawed them.
I have a 10 year supply of 100, 75, 60, 40, and 250,200, 150 3-ways. Eat your heart out! I’ve been stockpiling for the last year!
Me too. Had already amassed my arsenal of incandescents...now this! The best-laid plans...
The 100 watt halogens do get hot. They have a small tubular halogen bulb inside the normal shaped bulb. Here is a clear bulb to show what I mean.
The surface won't get as hot has one of the halogen bulbs you talked about because this is lower wattage and the actually bulb is shielded, but it still gets hot like a regular incandescent.
Personally I love the whiter light the halogens give and if it is in an area I use a lot (living room, my bedroom, etc.) I pay extra to put in the halogens.
Geeez, I signed out for a while and missed your message. I hope the delayed ban information is true.
LOL. GOOD on you! I can barely read in this dull 60 watt light.
Happy, healthy and prosperous 2012, Doc Savage!
