HAha, that’s interesting. A few years back, I was at the grocery store, and they had a soda chugging contest to win a case of “Jones” (namebrand) soda. It was a special holiday case. If you like/know “Jones” soda they have funny pictures and funny names. Well, the soda I drank tasted like sweet potatoes. Another tasted like Turkey, another antacid, and I think stuffing, etc. It was a big surprise, luckily I didn’t taste anything much except at the end. I almost won too, but I paused when I got the first taste in my mouth because I was so shocked! After having one of them, I decided I didn’t really mind losing, haha.

In case anyone is interested, this year’s flavors are:

“This year’s 4 Holiday flavors to include: 1) Ginger Bread: made from only the smiley faced heads of 100% organic, free range, gluten free gingerbread people. 2) Sugar Plum: fresh squeezed a la the aforementioned fruit of legend, and plucked from the only known remaining Sugar Plum tree in existence, nestled deep in the Foja Mountains of Indonesia. 3) Candy Cane: a drink so crisp and winter fresh, you’ll have no choice but to exclaim “By the beard of Santa!” in a crowded library, and finally 4) Pear Tree: a nectar so refreshing Zeus himself was known to sip it from his silver goblet, whilst wearing headband antlers”

They sound much better than the turkey and antacid the year I tried one!

I love their fufu berry LOL.. hate the name though. It conjures up images of hot pink sprayed poodles.

Oddly enough my youngest has developed a love of Spam.

I brought some on a whim, and cooked it up in Zataran’s jambalaya - fantastic.

Then months later I tried it with some potato casserole - fantastic.

Very surprised. So, the boy started frying it up as a side to scrambled eggs - he loved it.

Can’t keep a can on the cupboard shelf now.
They have bacon flavor and smoked hickory flavor! Much better than plain Spam.

Baked spam that has had whole cloves stuck in it is actually very good. Especially with honey mustard.

Yes, I speak from experience.

Last year I got some Bacon flavord Jones soda for Christmas “fun” gifts. Everyone who tried it, hated it after one sip.

I kept a bottle for myself, but never had the nerve to try it. Finally tossed the unopened bottle last week.

I love the green apple soda! As a kid (teen), I used to walk around the neighborhood with my sister who was trying to lose some weight after having a baby. On occasion we would stop at the convenience store and I’d get her some water, and myself a green apple Jone’s soda, they are the best!

Sorry for being so late in getting back to you. I think I remember the fufu berry as being the one I liked second best, after the green apple. I like all sodas made with real sugar. I’m glad to see that it’s making a comeback. Fortunately, I don’t drink enough soda (only on rare occasions), that the cost of Jones doesn’t make it unreachable. They certainly make a product I’m willing to pay for, and you’re right, I guess fufu berry reminds me of my aunt’s toy poodle, lol.

You made the right call! I know that there are some people that are into the novelty (I’m not), but after having the one that I could barely stomach, I wouldn’t want them around to take up space! There’s plenty of good tasting things to consume, I don’t want to waste time or money on the neat things that don’t, haha.

Merry Christmas!
