Union electricians no doubt. Incompetent goons. Wrong, the sports teams did not pay for their carbon footprint. Or maybe the EPA just decided that the bright lights exceed any mandated excess wattage. No doubt the stupid feds have something to do with this.

” transformer blowing and the whole place going pitch black “
Years ago, I was working about a block away from a transformer that exploded on the pole - there’s a sound I don’t think I’ll ever forget...
If this was similar, I’m a bit surprised that the commentary didn’t go straight to “Bomb”, just from the sound...

The lights are back on now. And still, nobody's home. S.O.P. for San Francisco.

You would think that they would try to avoid “single point of failure” issues in things like stadiums, by having multiple, widely-spaced transformers each handling part of the load.

Good point! But this being SFO, you gotta wonder where they stick the candle.

One good thing about football as a sport is that unlike for example golf it doesn’t require electricity!

Power Outage at Candlestick ParkSounds like the SF Giants offense this season. (Yes, I know they moved to Pac Bell Park)
