TORONTO, Ontario, December 17, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) A scant two days after seeing her case pled before the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa, famed pro-life activist Linda Gibbons was imprisoned once again in Toronto, following the same pattern of events that have seen her put behind bars for about nine of the past 17-plus years.
The diminutive grandmother appeared outside the Morgentaler Clinic abortion site on Hillsdale Avenue about 9 a.m. on a cold Friday morning, walking back and forth on a public sidewalk with her trademark placard, Why mom? When I have so much love to give. She smiled at passersby, waved to children, and handed a pamphlet to those who would take it. She attempted to speak to those who appeared to be clients entering the site.
About an hour and 40 minutes later a phalanx of six police officers and two sheriffs officials in two vehicles descended on the scene. Sheriff Peter Krause read the text of a court injunction that forbids pro-life activism outside the clinic to Gibbons as she stopped to listen quietly. Gibbons then engaged Krause in a discussion after he had finished. She gestured at the sidewalk while speaking, appearing to make the point that she had a right to demonstrate in that location.
Krause was not swayed and directed waiting police officers to arrest Gibbons, which they did. They handcuffed her and searched her, removing a metal button attached to her lapel, and placed her into the back of a vehicle, in which she was driven off for processing.
There was no immediate word on what the charge or charges would be, but it has been the practice to charge her criminally with disobeying a court order. At issue at the Supreme Court, however, is the question of whether the government has the right to charge her criminally for breaches of orders issued in civil courts.
Gibbons was in Ottawa Wednesday for the Supreme Court hearing and other Gibbons supporters who were present said it went very well. Gibbonss legal team of Daniel Santoro and Nicholas Rouleau argued very persuasively, they said, but it will be several months before it is determined whether their submissions were successful.
The Supreme Court case has prompted a swell in media interest in the Gibbons case. In addition to LifeSiteNews, the National Post had a photographer on the scene of the arrest and the Catholic Register a reporter. At one point, a shouting blonde female Morgentaler employee emerged from the doorway of the abortion site, guarded by a representative of the Intercom security firm, to berate photographers for supposedly violating the privacy of clients entering the site.
A complete video of the arrest will be posted on Lifesite shortly.
How threatening this single woman with her dangerous message on 1 sign must be the the entire country of Canada.
“There was no immediate word on what the charge or charges would be”
...being made an example of so nobody else tries this I would imagine.
Excuse my errors. I have one of those programs which puts in the word it thinks I intend. Don’t know how to cut it off.
How dangerous this message of love she preaches is to the New World Order goal of reducing the worlds population. Enough to send a whole squad of armed men to stop it.
yes
But meanwhile it’s okay to be an OWS ‘demonstrator’. A group that was started by a Canadian and has had no problems being a pain in the arse all over the place.

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is a protest movement which began September 17, 2011 in Zuccotti Park, located in New York City’s Wall Street financial district, which was initiated by the Canadian activist group Adbusters. The protests are against social and economic inequality, high unemployment, greed, as well as corruption, and the undue influence of corporationsparticularly from the financial services sectoron government.
***Why mom? When I have so much love to give.***
That’s powerful; makes no bones about who these womyn are killing.
We have freedom as speech - as long as we agree with what you are saying...
She can sue to have the injunction lifted, or she can violate that injunction to try to make her point, and be arrested for such violation.
If she is right, why not sue to have the injunction lifted?

Well, she is defintely a threat to the kind of secular humanism which trivializes and demeans human life and creates the demand for abortion abbatoirs. And THAT is her “REAL” crime.
I pray for the courageous Mrs. Gibbons in her battle with the forces fo satanic humanism.
I hope your life in Israel is good. We visited May, 2010 and can’t wait to go back.

I did not know of this before. This woman has spent 9 of the last 17 years in prison? Unbelievable. And good point about the OWSers aka the Occupukes. They can flagrantly violate dozens of laws, as well as assault others, and are given free rein to do whatever they want. This is horrible.
This is not simply horrible. Her imprisonment represents the power and authority of evil in our public life and most especially in our government. Evil must be overthrown if justice is to survive.
Perhaps because of the money involved with bringing a lawsuit.

I agree. Governments who promote and do such evil must be changed radically, and soon. How? IMO God’s help is absolutely essential; and we have to do our parts, whatever they may be.
The “How” is quite simple. A million letters, phone calls and people in the streets daily will force change. We must be resolute and courageous. We demonstrated on a weekend last summer against the dreaded health bill. It was too short and too festive. We must show anger and an absolute unwillingness to permit the continuation of socialist and tyrannical government.
Acts of civil disobedience must be an essential part of our opposition. Until there are 10 thousand citizens in jail for sitting in in government office buildings and on streets, the elites will not pay attention. We must see a spirit rise up in our land that cannot be ignored because it is uncompromising and confrontative.
I am not proposing violence. That is the final resort of a people subjected to a complete abuse of their civil rights. When the government begins murdering its citizens in open warfare for their opposition to its excesses the time for violence will be upon us. That time is not now.
Now it is time for actions that are unmistakable in their opposition to government tyranny. Officials must be held accountable for their criminal behavior. We can start with the criminal actions of the Attorney General. We must petition the Courts and the Congress to bring action against him and his administration for their crimes. If such a person as Holder is not criminally indicted we will have lost the war against corruption.
Well said! And I agree in every particular. I’m wondering what it will take for people to start doing this. More effective leaders at the local/state level? More outrages on the part of gov at all the various levels?
I wish I knew.
