I was just wondering if anyone would like to share their most memorable and favorite Christmas present.
I'm tied between being a kid and getting Darth Vader's tie Fighter (with removable wings) --- and ---
This year I got a late model, new in box, .356 Colt Python. My father's service weapon was a Colt Python. When he died, my sister took it because she lived alone.
Sister got married, then divorced --- and the ex-husband took my dad's gun.
Always has made me MAD. Mrs. TTR replaced it this year -- little early. Cool pistol and she put some serious thought into this.
Still have the tie fighter, BTW.
Found a Web Site that has the old Wish Books, going through these will sure bring back memories:
Wow - that’s a real nice recording you have there. Sounds real good too for being off the radio onto cassette and then 30 years later downloaded to youtube! ;)
We brought our first child home on Christmas eve - so that was the best. Getting a BB gun was a close second!
I remember ripping the paper and seeing my first model train set. I just stared at it for a minute, not believing that I’d actually gotten it. And then I struggled to get the box open.
And then my wife gave me a pair of scissors to cut the tape on the box.
I was talking to someone about Chanukkah the other day and the lessons of it:
1. Kids get money from parents
2. Kids get candy
3. Kids gamble money and candy with parents’ encouragement
4. Drink some booze
5. Play with fire
I’m surprised CPS doesn’t raid us.
I can’t remember very many gifts, although the homemade clothes my Grama made me (she’s still with us, and nearly 94) do stand out as something special. My favorites were the flannel nightgowns she often made. She was a very accomplished seamstress and would also sew blouses. She made my flower girl gown for her daughter’s wedding, and she also made me a beautiful yellow Easter coat.
Her sewing skills did not rub off on me!
What I do remember best about Christmas as a kid, is being with family, and the wonderful food and good cheer.
not even brisket and latkas!!
.356 Colt Python
Was that the special version designed to shoot both .357 and 9MM(.355)?
I was 16 years old (1986). My brother got me a denim skirt set along with knee high, high heeled boots.
I will NEVER forget peeking into the boxes before Christmas (yes I did that, was good at it too).
I ALWAYS lived on hand me downs or second hand store clothes.
This was a BRAND NEW outfit and BRAND NEW boots! I cannot remember a present, to this day, that bought so much joy to me.
I still bring it up, lol.
Secret Sam!
Holy crap, I forgot about that!
If I remember correctly, there was a secret trigger that you shoot a bullet from the gun while still in the closed briefcase...easily the coolest toy on the planet!!!
Well, 2nd coolest:

The Johnny 7 helmet and one-man army.
I’m 52, and I still want one!
Mr. Mom reference....
LOL
A Madame Alexander Treasure Doll when I was ten. Scarlett is the model. I wanted her so badly and was so happy to get her. Still have her.
I can’t even remember getting the one present that made me really happy - the teddy bear for my first Christmas. That bear was my anchor during a rough childhood - traveled thousands of miles with me and came home again. He’s sitting on my closet shelf in a pillow case now - he’s going to come down for another Christmas.
Probably would have been something in an orange, blue and white “Lionel” box.....
