Did you take or see this quiz? I did and my winners were Bachmann, Paul, and Santorum [in that order]. I would say that Newt was on my radar screen, as was Bachmann and Paul. Santorum never even entered my mind. I would have thought I preferred Paul over Bachmann [test says, NO!].
Every person on my desk took it and none of them came up with Romney

When he's given a free reign to speak, generally he makes sense about limiting government and freeing the economy but then almost without fail and seemingly out of nowhere and really in a pretty surprising way, he'll zing off into never-never land about defense or 9/11. It makes it seem like he's got a screw loose somewhere.
Took the test Paul 58%, Newt 36%, Perry 31%, Romney 30%.

Huntsman, Paul, Bachmann.
Mitt came in last ... even after obama.
With some slight tweaking to only one question, things shift depending on the answer. Perry jumped into my top 3 on one angle, other than that, the top 3 remained the same but shift depending on importance ratings of answers.
I honestly don’t know much about Huntsman. Can anyone shed some light on this candidate? I’ve not heard good things about him.
But I would disqualify him from the standpoint that America is in an increasingly severe crisis, and needs someone who will make sharp and unpopular changes that will have the populace screaming bloody murder. Perry is too much the politician who wants to keep and hold power.
Paul shows that kind of willingness to stick to principle in the face of hatred, and Bachmann has explicitly said what I just said above. So she might follow through though I don't know that she's as good a constitutionalist as Dr. Paul.
You're right, but it is a USA Today poll. So be grateful they at least had a question on immigration.

Huntsman's biggest turn-off for me is that he once bought into the global warming crapola. It looks like he has enough sanity in his energy policy, however, to push it into the background.
Somewhere between a score of 0 (America as the Great Satan) and 100 (America is Heaven and does no wrong) is reality. Paul simply points out reality - that we are not perfect and that we have done things to antagonize non-Americans.
This puts his opponents in a bind. They can't fight him on the other issues, so this is their one sad attempt to portray him as "lunatic." They do this by completely slandering him as "anti-American" (saying America does not score 100 is not the same as saying it scores 0). Ironically they only end up caricaturing themselves as a bunch of nut cases who think America is Heaven, a perfect land that never does anything wrong to anyone outside its borders. I see this many times each day on FR, so sensitive are the leftists here to Paul's message.

My results were Bachmann, Santorum, Perry and then Gingrich.
Romney tied with Huntsman and Obama for last.
And since I have my doubts about the electability of Bachmann, Santorum & Perry, I will vote for Gingrich.

I think many of here agree with much of Ron Paul, but his positions on abortion and national defense are deal breakers for me. On the test, you have to weight the issues on the right side, which I did, but I cannot vote for Paul unless there is only one other choice, his oneness.
But his foreign policy and 9/11 views are wrong and very caustic IMO. He comes across a little like a cult leader and I have sometimes found it difficult to reason with his "followers."
Of course here on FR, there are cadres of "worshipers" of various candidates who seem to have lost a sense of proportion and reason. But I think by-and-large, people here are trying to think for themselves and find the best guy/gal.

Well said! I'm with you.
If we can get back some of our rights from fedzilla we may not always agree with what happens in a state we reside in, but we will have the option to move to a state that better represents our values. IOW, we will be free and the govt will be subject to our will. As it stands now we are approaching a time where our only alternative is to submit to the govt, or leave the country.
The only other candidate that I've heard say anything about the Tenth Amendment is Newt Gingrich — who mentioned in passing that Perry's interest in the Tenth was well-justified, and that he had sparked his, Gingrich's, interest, too.
My second choice behind Perry. My concerns with him are electability and his tendency to look to big govt solutions to big problems. I think he could be a great VP for Perry.
Perry is my #1 though for a lot of reasons. The most important to me being I think he is the kind of person you could do business with on a handshake. He has that middle America rural background that places a premium on honor.
My question is can Perry get out of his own way and get on a steady track with a clear no-nonsense message to the American people sans the hot headed outbursts and gaffes?
