OK, this is not a flame thread. I'm genuinely curious why conservatives think Communism is so evil.

I am a Communist. I am also a God-fearing Christian, a tax-paying and loyal American, and a generally nice guy. Communism was perverted by third world despots and was never implemented fully in its true form.

Communism is about cooperation and good will. And it's important to note that economic success and cooperation are not mutally exclusive. In fact, I would argue greater cooperation among individuals leads to more prosperity and more overall happiness.

We have had a whole century of "godfearing Christians" who thought they were communists until they looked at the reality instead of the theory. The best endpoint you need to reach was articulated by Ronald Reagan: "Communists are people who read Karl Marx. Anti-communists are people who understand Karl Marx."

You dumbasses actually think there is equality under communism when in reality, great wealth still accumulates and a small number of hands at the top. With capitalism we all have a shot at accumulating wealth if we wish.

If you chose to live in a commune, that’s fine. The problem is that Communism goes against human nature. The vast majority of humans are greedy to some degree. Communism as a government has to deny people of their basic human rights, so I hate it.

Communism doesn't worked the way Marx said it would... It fails in the real world.

Every place it's tried, thugs are pushed forward to run things and the people are poor with a boot on their neck.

The only time communist countries aren't poor is when they've allowed some capitalism to offset the stupidity of a command economy.

For me, communism looks like a lousy deal. Subjects under communism are fortunate to escape with their lives, while none escape with individual freedom --- the exception being the political elites

It’s against human nature and can only survive by forcing people to adhere to its tenets.

Small communes, kibbutzim and the like can survive for a time... this is because people are allowed to leave if they wish. On a large scale you get the Berlin wall because the smart people will flee communism. (the brain drain)

Only capitalism can thrive over the long haul. It is flawed of course, as are human beings in every instance.
