OK, this is not a flame thread. I'm genuinely curious why conservatives think Communism is so evil.

I am a Communist. I am also a God-fearing Christian, a tax-paying and loyal American, and a generally nice guy. Communism was perverted by third world despots and was never implemented fully in its true form.

Communism is about cooperation and good will. And it's important to note that economic success and cooperation are not mutally exclusive. In fact, I would argue greater cooperation among individuals leads to more prosperity and more overall happiness.

Since you seem to have skipped over the 100+ million murdered by communists, we can try basic philosophy.

Contrary to your assertion, Communism is coercion.

Capitalism is about the free exchange of goods and services. People will do this without coercion in their own interest.

Communism requires force to make people “work for the common good.” Otherwise, people will be as lazy as they can get away with and nothing will get done. As the old Russian saying went “They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work.”

Worse, it has been proven that the needs of people can not be anticipated by a bureaucracy, while capitalism will move to meet these needs simply to make a profit.

Oh, and in Communism, if the “common good” requires your death, you’re dead, as it millions upon millions of victims have found out...

I might add that as a Christian, you have acknowledged that you are a sinner and you need a savior, as do all the other people on this earth. Among those sins which we try to overcome but will fail to do so because of our sinful nature are greed, covetousness, envy, pride, hate, slothfulness, etc. Oh, and of course the big one, "Thou shalt have no other God's before Me." If you believe you have those all tackled as does everyone else in your world, than establish your communistic utopia. But, it is doomed to fail, because you can not live up to it's expectations.

Not that I disagree with your post, in general, but I think you are wrong here. Everybody is Stalin's slave, and vulnerable. Stalin has to look over his shoulder every minute, every second, 24/7.

I think it’s fine for commune’s and small groups to practice communism... what I don’t like is the idea of being coerced into it.
It really falls into the sphere of respecting an individuals free will.

Um...maybe the quarter of a billion dead folks murdered by Communist governments?

Maybe because when the state owns everything all the people are just serfs working for a huge corporation that never needs to share its profits with them?

Maybe because (since you're such a good Christian) communism as envisioned by Marx and Engels is dedicated to the destruction of religious faith?
