They may look like the sketches of a madman with too much time on his hands.
But these stunning landscapes are in fact a labour of love for German artist Heike Weber - who used permanent marker pens to draw on acrylic floors and walls
The art installation series, called Utopia, has transformed a dull and dreary apartment in Neumünster into a surreal landscape of visual depth and complexity.

Those markers give me a bad headache too.
Check out this Ducati Monster done by hand with a Sharpie:

The lady who did this is an (inspired) artist with a healthy sense of humor.
I thought exactly the same thing...which is probably why some of the lines look *delirious.*
When I was a teen, I lived in the upstairs of my parents duplex.
Dad allowed me to paint murals on the wall and I used permanent marker to define the edges of the work.
After I left home and joined the Navy, Dad went over the murals with paint.
Boy were we both surprised that the permanent marker bleeds through paint!
Poor Pop! He ended up putting up a new layer of insulation and sheet rock to cover the murals.
The darn things are still there behind the new walls LoL
Talk about permanent! LoL
You’d think Pop would be pissed but he was cool about it. He said the new insulation lowered the energy cost.
I did some other murals in rent homes, I have no idea how they dealt with that shit! LoL!

Could be...
I think that’s cool. But I’m one of those who’ll get wasted at noon and listen to Meatloaf, so my tastes aren’t to be trusted. Oooo, I see something shiny! Back later!
Now that’s goth.
The ones I did in my fathers house were BW, My friend who was taking a class in cinematography at Kent state took photos of it and submitted it as a project for BW composition.
He got an “A” LoL
Now he runs this joint http://avela.com/
The other murals I did were full color.
Some of these markers are technically non toxic, but eww, I’d need a good stiff cross-draft. If these were acrylic panels, maybe they were done on the ground outside, then installed.
Perhaps that’s how he did it..
Ideed!
Indeed!
FWIW, pigmented shellac will cover most types of marker, AFAIK all of them, and not bleed through. I discovered this when employees wrote notes to each other on the walls in a home we were working in.
Great idea for the mother in law’s quarters.
Thanks for the tip.
Hey Darks! Someone snuck into your house with a camera...
In normal lighting you couldn't see it, but when the black light was turned on.... interesting stuff. :)
