Although I understand why Cain supporters feel let down and disappointed, I don't understand those who are thowing up their hands, conceding the election to 0bama, and declaring the end of the Republic.
Where was there any evidence that Cain had capabilty and experience to lead the Nation?
Did he have years of fighting the good fight with the scars to prove it? No. Compare the battles Sarah Palin fought even before 2008.
Since he is a radio commentator, was he a leading voice of conservative thought? No. If you want a radio host with a thorough understanding of the Constitution and gov't, Mark Levin would be a better choice.
He didn't have a distinguished military career like Col. West. Working on weapons gives you no geo-poltical experience as to when to use them. Oppenheimer may have been the father of the A-bomb, but he was never qualified to decide when to use it.
Finally, if his business experience was in manufacturing or finance, he would have a better understanding of what it will take to bring America back. But,the US doesn't need anymore fast food joints.
He added to the debate for sure, but he wasn't the end all be all.
Amen
Logic is a harsh mistress.
I’m not looking for a savior, just somebody who will save us from the “saviors.”
“We simply want a responsible adult who can PRESIDE over its administrative functions, without deliberately destroying our economy, culture, and national security. “
I want someone we can be proud of and say, hey look! We have a really fricken cool prez! He’s an amazing guy.
We had that in Cain. Maybe that’s not important to you, but it is to me. That comes along so rarely, that it’s really something else.
I was too young for the reagan years. I remember him vaguely, but by the time I was old enough, it was only later that I came to understand just how special he was.
Perhaps it was too much in this day and age to get another Reagan. Perhaps it was too much to even expect another honest and decent man like President Bush.
Perhaps not.
I thought you’d never stop!
So now the surrender will be to Mexico.
Screw you, zot bait!
I think the big “turning point” was the Milwaukee editorial board interview. Cain just brain-farted it and looked totally lost. THAT (IMHO) was the incident when inertia took over and the comments of “not ready for prime time” started to snowball.
Much like what Palin discovered, to become POTUS is a long, sticky, and stinky process. You need to get a lot of ducks in a row, have an infrastructure, play the game and have some luck in the process. Just to get to the point of saying “I’m running” is a long quest within itself. Many candidates in the past had to spend a lot of “background” work kissing babies, making speeches, meet-and-greets, meeting local leaders and eating a lot of rubber chicken dinners.
Apparently someone didn’t like my post and had it deleted. Waiting for my other one to be deleted as well.
A pity. There was so much more that could have been said.
Why are you bashing Newt over what happened to Cain? in the beginning Newt was the ONLY candidate that took up for Cain...like it or not they are friends. Newt bashed the media for digging up dirt on gop candidates while they ignore all the garbage with Obama. On the gop side...it was Paul, Bachmann that went after Herman Cain.
True.....and I was holding back.
I think you better do some research and ask some Texans that do not support Jimmy rick and why they dislike him so much.
“I thought youâd never stop!”
I KNOW! I never do. I even had more to say but opted to be sensitive.
Thanks. I’m going to frame that and hang it on my wall!
