Dogs are man's best friend. Except, you know, when they're shooting a gun at you.
And strangely enough, that's what really happened to a hapless dog owner in Brigham City, Utah. The man in question--a 46-year-old hunting enthusiast who is not named in local news reports on the incident--got a behind-full of birdshot courtesy of his loyal canine companion when he was out duck hunting over the weekend.

Psst... Over here...
Sounds like something Pooky would do...
The line of questions posed to the dog to determine it was truly accidental, would be interesting to know......
BUT, not as interesting as a headline that read:
“Man is intentionally shot by his own dog!”
This thread about the same thing even brought a vegan zotting.

Naw. I have Pook fully trained on the Sterling SMG and Ak’s.
He will never again think having to check the safety is a “pain in the butt”...
Maybe when the dog saw him shooting the ducks, he started thinking, “Hey, this guy doesn’t seem to have any compunction about blowing away ducks, so, what’s to stop him from shooting, say, dogs next?”
The safety located at the trigger guard is of no use as far as a dog pulling the trigger. I had this very thing happen to me, and I was 15 yds away when I herd the dog drop the hammer.
I had left the blind to attend to the decoys. Laid the gun down and started out. Picked the gun back up and only jacked the shells out as an after thought.
The dog waited till I was in his sights, and stepped on the trigger guard. One toe clicked the safety off and another toe tripped the trigger. A very loud click followed.
It can happen, Labs can and do get into the strangest situations.
Lolol, something ‘mindbending’ about the combo of a cigar, a red bow and a gun......
Dog shoots man!
A likely story!
The real story is that...
The man had a fight with his girlfriend (or wife, or both), and the girlfriend (or wife), shot him in the buttocks...
But, they later made up, and had to think up a story...
And, seeing the dog sitting close to a gun, an idea sprung up...
And the rest is history.
(Or, is it?)
.
I cannot comprehend how or why any hunter or target shooter would ever put down a loaded firearm
.
You mean with the safety off, right? An unloaded handgun is useless.
I had much slowness getting here, hope that doesn’t keep up!
