Dear FR History Buffs,
I have been caught up lately in many shows on the “Military Channel.” Most have focused on WWII, specifically they are mostly about Hitler vs the Allies. What I have found so interesting is that the NAZI’s and the NAZI collaborators all seem to start with the premise that they are opposing Communism. I may be misunderstanding this, but it does seem like a consistent theme in many different shows.
So, here is my question to those much more studied than me: Why would a NAZI Fascist, or other fascists or collaborators, think that Communism is so much different than their own Fascist leanings? Were they so much different then?
From my perspective the NAZI’s and other Fascists were fighting for a centralized autocratic government that is run by a dictator. On the other hand, the communists wanted central ownership of production to be distributed equally among all citizens....
Their outcomes don’t seem all that different to me.
