Wow. Very sad. Patrice had a terrific sense of humor, and a unique perspective on all sorts of subjects. What a shame. He will be missed.

The only thing sadder than Patrice O'Neal's passing is the lameness of the twitter tributes.

Why even try to say anything profound in such a short space on such a lame part of the communication bandwidth?

Yeah, it's sad-and depressing, IMO.

My father and grandfather both died from complications of diabetes-among other things-but having a stroke at forty is a scary thought.

I wish more people knew about him.

I've been listening to him since O&A were on terrestrial radio.

Amazing comedian.

I’m very sad about this.

Like you, I discovered Patrice from the O and A show.

Very very funny but also tremendously insightful and oh so politically incorrect! Great discussions about women, life, race, politics, everything between him and the guys on the show.

I actually hadn’t listened to O and A the last couple months as NFL season I listen to the NFL channel on Sirius all day. So I completely missed news of his stroke and complications and was extremely shocked to read of his death today.

Awful news. He truly was a unique talent and person

I loved his out of control laugh when he really got going on O&A. There wasn’t a fake thing about him.

He was definitely genuine. To the point the guys often would get on him for not playing the “star” game better and becoming more famous. I remember he had a hilarious riff once about his problem was he was neither “black famous” (like Tyler Perry) or just plain famous (like Chris Rock).
