BARSTOW [California] Three people were stabbed after two parolees allegedly tried to steal a Barstow homeowner's decorative fountain from his front yard.
Officers responded to the 600 block of Francis Drive around 1:47 a.m. Friday, according to a Barstow Police report.
Police were told that two men identified by police as Barstow residents Harry Carrillo, Jr., 28, and Eric Begay, 25 had knocked on the victims door and asked for someone who did not live at the address, according to the report. Carrillo and Begay then allegedly took a decorative fountain valued between $200 and $300 from the front yard, according to the report.
The 42-year-old homeowner came out of his house and confronted the two men. One of the men then threw the fountain at the homeowner and punched him in the face, while the other man stabbed the victim, according to the report.
Some members of the homeowners family who were at the home for Thanksgiving came out and tried to pull Carillo and Begay off the victim. During the struggle, Carillo, Begay and the homeowner all suffered stab wounds.
The homeowner had defensive stab wounds to his left arm, left ear and above his left eye. Espinoza said Carillo was the most seriously injured and was released from the hospital Friday afternoon, while both Begay and the homeowner were released Friday morning.
Police found that Carillo and Begay were both on parole and allegedly affiliated with a Barstow criminal street gang. Both men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, participating in a criminal street gang and felony parole violation.
“...two parolees...”
- give ‘em life, then they can stab and be stabbed as much as they like.
their combined IQ has to be around 12. going back to prison for a $200 fountain? really?
They knocked on the door just to see if anyone was home. The plan was to rob the house.
The fountain was just an after thought.
These are those fountains you see at Lowes and HD. You fill them with a garden hose and a little pump circulates the water. The retail my be a couple of hundred, but the street value would be much less.
$20 to maybe $50, if you could get anyone to buy it at all. These guys sold their freedom and almost killed a guy over a few dollars. Something tells me they are going to be put away for life this time.
They are way too stupid and dangerous to live in society with the rest of us.
Hoses. Circulating water. The idiots probably thought they had the hardware for a meth lab.
This is just the first episode of Home and Garden TV’s new hit series LANDSCAPING WITH NO MONEY. It airs Thursdays at 8.
Dang! That must have been one helluva decorative fountain!
Strike three! Yer out!
[singing] fountains of Barstow, twenty to life, you’ve stole that metal bowl...
