An octopus surprised visitors to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve recently when it rose from the water and onto dry land.

A person can be heard saying, "He might come out of the water, and it's okay."
The octopus slithered across land for about two-and-a-half minutes before returning to the water.
You can see the video here.
“He might come out of the water, and it’s okay.”
NO IT IS NOT “okay”!
::PUNT::
The octopus said he would stay on land if he could sustain his 3-point lead over President Obama in the latest polls.
I lived by the ocean for many years and never saw anything as cool as that!
It has long been known that octopus are very intelligent.
Not too long ago it was discovered that they could learn how to unscrew metal lids from jars, being tempted by some snack inside the jar. Pretty soon aquariums around the world would put jars into the octopus tanks as “crowd pleasers”.
In another aquarium, it was noted how a bright floodlight above the tank kept going out, until it was discovered that the octopus, who didn’t appreciate the bright light when it was trying to sleep, would position itself at the top of the tank and squirt the hot light with cold tank water.
Aquariums are still trying to figure out exactly how smart is smart for octopus, by designing elaborate ways to test their intelligence.
Cthulu wakes from his long slumber!
It’s California. “I’m ready for my close up, Mr. DeMille.”
It probably hopes for an audition for the upcoming octopus reality show, “Keeping Up With The Cephalopods.”
Wow....I didn’t know THAT....and I’m from NW Washington!
A few years ago everyone freaked out when an Olympic forest Christmas tree, brought over here to eastern WA, turned out to have a small Tree Octopus ornament on it already. The octopus was already dead but the novelty was worth a couple articles in the local paper and tv news.
That’s why I keep my doors locked......
The best way to repel an attacking land based cephalopod is by loudly chanting Sushi, Sushi, Sushi, Sushi,.....
