An octopus surprised visitors to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve recently when it rose from the water and onto dry land.

YouTube video becoming big hit

A person can be heard saying, "He might come out of the water, and it's okay."

The octopus slithered across land for about two-and-a-half minutes before returning to the water.

Reminds me of Omoslem leaving Chicago.

He’ll someday crawl back.

I wouldn’t say he “rose” from the water, that would imply something graceful about its movements. I uderstand, now, that this isn’t totally uncommon, just doesn’t usually happen when people are around.

Nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

Aw...this is nothing.....friend of mine tells story of a night worker (I think he was an ER doc) who had two large fish tanks side by side....one had an octopus in it, the other had various fish. He would feed them both....however, all of a sudden fish started disappearing from the one tank. And, evidently he always discovered it upon his return from his night shift. Long story short....after awhile he caught the octopus actually lifting the lid of his tank....skooting over to the other tank, lifting the lid, and reaching in for a fish.....TRUE story!

I read about a case several years ago where fish in a laboratory tank kept disappearing. It was assumed they were being stolen, so a hidden camera was set up. What they found was that at night after everyone would leave, an octopus in another tank would crawl out and over to the other tank where he would have dinner and then head back home. Amazing. They are far and away the most intelligent invertebrate...

The scout reported seeing only a few unarmed humanoid creatures at the primary invasion assault site. The first mass landing of our combined expeditionary forces will proceed on schedule.
