I wore these in the 1970s during Nixon& Carter. These were out of fashion for years but are making a comeback. They are drab and dark. To me they reflect an awful economy for young people who wear these. Do the occupy Wall Street kids wear them? I would think so.

I have a genuine pea coat and it has withstood -25 degree Montreal winds like nothing.

I must have owned three different pea jackets back in the day 1970s and late 1960s. I loved them. I'm just tickled to death they made a comeback but I don't think bell bottom jeans will. The right woman looked so sexy in them
I actually prefer the earlier M43 design a little more. Button-close pockets, and nice big pockets at that!
My dear, where do you live? Mars? Poor thing, bell bottoms came back in style a few years back, and then went out again. And you missed it. I'm so sorry! And yes, the young girls did indeed look sexy with the low-slung tight jeans and wide legs. I had to laugh since that was what people wore when I was a girl.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. My buddy bought a real, vintage Pea coat in the 80’s at a thrift store for 5 dollars. I’m sure he still has it.
Some of us are trying on that. But if we want them to come back we all have to do our part. I wear a hat as often as I can manage it, and you should too. When people see how fine we look, they become unafraid to wear nice hats too. I think gentlemen should all be encouraged to wear hats, and when I see a man wearing one I make a point of thanking him (a little bit flirtatiously, depending on his age and the situation).
Wore one in the early Seventies. Quite warm, and quite comfortable, actually. And, didn’t break the bank to buy one.
But...if there is truth in AGW, these won’t be needed. Right?
I had one in the late sixties and was just looking at one in Orvis
I inherited my fathers WWII Merchant Marine Pea Jacket.
The label was Brooks Brothers.
It was the best coat I ever had, lasted for years and years.
The pea coats are practical and look good. I wish I had my old CPO.

The next thing you know 13 button trousers will be back in fashion.
Last set I had were genuine Hong Kong Sharkskin, with a zipper (inside) and had silk(?) lining along with the Sharkskin Jumper with silk lining and dragons on the inner cuffs.
Also ‘great’ were the bell bottom dungaree working uniform with patch pockets.
One kept me warm very well in the Navy.
I have a lightweight jacket that I got from Walmart 24 years ago for probably $16. The flanel lining is starting to fray but it’s rarely that cold.
I wore a pea jacket in those brutal Michigan winters in grade school in the early 1950s.
Oh...*pea* coats. I thought maybe you had cats.
That’s why I gave the red coat away ... I also had a faux-suede jacket that I used much more often, and I felt bad about having a warm coat hanging in the closet unused. (For one thing, I couldn’t get it buttoned when I was pregnant, which is practically all the time ;-).
i still have the one issued to my Dad in 1942...
I must be a trendsetter. I have one that I’ve worn since 2006.
