They’re not selling in large numbers because people are too poor to buy something better; they’re selling because they’re wildly in fashion. They’re throwbacks to an earlier time, yes, which fits in with the traditionalist/preppy style now very popular with young people. The point is to buy things that represent timeless, classic style that hasn’t changed in the last 50 to 75 years. Or before.

I must have owned three different pea jackets back in the day 1970s and late 1960s. I loved them. I'm just tickled to death they made a comeback but I don't think bell bottom jeans will. The right woman looked so sexy in them

My dear, where do you live? Mars? Poor thing, bell bottoms came back in style a few years back, and then went out again. And you missed it. I'm so sorry! And yes, the young girls did indeed look sexy with the low-slung tight jeans and wide legs. I had to laugh since that was what people wore when I was a girl.
