Of the top contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is viewed most favorably by all voters, while Texas Governor Rick Perry is the least liked. Among Republican voters, Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich still earn mostly positive reviews, while Perry and Ron Paul do not.

waste of time napscoordinator is a troll.
If ensuring that Perry does NOT step in the White House means I am a troll then yep I am a proud troll. Sorry if you are one of the three that supports Perry but you should have gotten in your car and went down to Texas and explain to him how NOT to run the dumbest campaign in HISTORY! See what did you do for Perry? Not a dang thing except call me a troll. I believe I am on the right side of the Perry disaster as evident by this poll. You are on the wrong side....maybe you are the troll.
Perry hardly inspires voter confidence-——he careens back and forth, creating disaster after disaster. In Texas, his record is one of sheer horror:
<><> this “conservative” signed the gay-friendly hate crimes bill that GWB had vetoed (nearly costing him the presidency).
<><> blithely using govt power to take 500,000 acres of private land from trusting Texans for his Tran-Texas Corridor insider deal,
<><> his Gardasil EO fiasco which generated bigtime campaign donations from Merck,
<><> raining tax dollars on illegals, including the infamous in-state tuition,
<><> sucking up to Mexico, allowing the Mexican pledge of allegiance and singing the Mexican ntl anthm in Texas schools,
<><> sucking up to Islam; Sharia law is part of the Texas justice system and at least one triumphal mosque has been built there.
Perry is relentlessly STUPID and is trying to force his stupidity on the US. Perry’s contempt for voters and for US ntl intetests is appalling-—he recently announced his INSANE plan to LEGALIZE all Illegals on US soil-—which will trigger another wave of govt-dependents to our shores.
So, troll, how do you spin liberal Romney being at the top of the heap in this conservative Rasmussen poll? Suits you fine, I bet.
You haven't any internal consistency. It's as transparent as it is pathetic.
Your post outlines the very few problems Perry’s had in 11 years as Governor, and one complete non-sequitor.
No land was taken for TTC.
No Gardasil shots were given by mandate.
The only “benefits” to illegals is that children brought here before 16 years old, who go to school in Texas for 3 years, graduate from a Texas high school and get accepted to college get to pay in state tuition. All of which would be impossible if the Feds did their job at any number of points.
We don’t have sharia law. The Texas Supreme Court upheld Texas law requiring people to follow through when they sign a contract with an arbitrator. (and yes, we follow the First Amendment in Texas.)
A single teacher in a Spanish class had her students learn Mexico’s (Spanish) pledge and National anthem.
waste of time napscoordinator is a troll.Oh really? 'naps' has bee a FReeper since Aug-11-2005 however you've only been here since Sept-20-2008.
So whose the TROLL, *newbie*. Btw, would you like a nice Texas Song to go with your WHINE?
My Rifle, My Pony, and Me (I'll even sing along with you.)
I actually love this song. Music was music back then.
BS, how about we stop destroyng our own, unless you want obozo for another 4 yrs.
One of my favorite Dean Martin songs - from the movie Rio Bravo. (It may have a traditional melody, though. It is also used in John Wayne’s “Red River.”)
It’s ridiculous to call Naps a troll. He simply - like a lot of us - cannot abide Perry.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENT Gov Perry addresses the Aga Khan: It is a great honor to be in the presence of the Imam of 16 million Muslims around the world, a global humanitarian leader, a man of peace with a pluralistic vision for people around the world, His Highness, the Aga Khan, the 49th Hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. Your Highness, on behalf of 23 million Texans, and over 600,000 thousand Muslims living in Texas, I extend our heartfelt appreciation for your 50 years of great international leadership.
We are delighted to welcome you to the Lone Star State and participate in the celebration of your Golden Jubilee. I am also grateful to the many federal, state and local leaders in attendance tonight. By their presence, these special guests convey the profound respect that exists in the Western World for His Highness work and leadership.
In April 2004, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and Univ of Texas-Austin finalized a grant proposal that created the partnership that became known as the Muslim Histories and Cultures Program (MHC).
MHC recruited and directly trained 80 teachers affecting approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography in ten key Texas districts in 2005 and 2006.
The purpose is two-fold 1) to fulfill Governor Rick Perrys desire to better educate Texas teachers on Muslim topics and 2) to train teachers to use a cultural lens approach to understanding other cultures.
Governor Perry was instrumental in getting this program off the ground. ####
Our Riccardo Pherry isn’t a bad guy—as long as you LOVE all his Illegal buddies, want them in country sucking up social services $$$$$$ and clogging our schools with Spanish-speaking (?) illiterates.
Did I mention VOTING (ILLEGALLY) Democrat? Destroying Hospitals? DRIVING DRUNK??
I have never stated that I wanted Rick Perry to run for President. I have always stated the I prefer he remain the Governor of Texas. He has not been a bad governor. I have been told by sources that I have confidence in that he was asked to run for President.
If he were to get the nomination I would have absolutely no problem voting for him. None.
"but you should have gotten in your car and went down to Texas and explain to him how NOT to run the dumbest campaign in HISTORY!"
That is a hilarious statement. I grew up 14 miles from Rick Perry's home. (but I have never met Rick, my daughter and son-in-law see him often) I know both of his parents. I grew up 10 miles from his wife's parents and knew them. Rick's wife nursed my grandfather before he died and is a fine lady who has been treated shabbily by some of the press for no other reason than she is married to Rick.
Rick's ancestors came to Haskell county about 3 years before my family. My family has been here since 1889. Both of our families have farmed here since then.
I was a delegate to the Republican State Convention the year Rick first ran for Governor on his own. (without W) I vote for him then and each time since then.
Some of my ancestors were born in Texas during the Republic. But all of my ancestors were/are Texans. I know the state, the politics and the culture. I doubt someone like napscoordinator who sports the Italian flag on his bio page does.
There are a number of Texas haters here on FR. Many of them are from CA. Not sure why, except we are very different.

First, I don’t own a horse. Currently I don’t own any cattle. My speech does not betray where I was born.
Now really, Dean Martin in a western? hee hee hee
” There are a number of Texas haters here on FR. “
Soooooo.....if we don’t like a candidate from Texas, it is axiomatic that we hate all Texans ?
Interesting : )
There are some Texas haters on the Board.
It appears that there are also a few people who are defensive about hating Texas and/or have a need to build straw men.
I have no problem with those who don’t like Perry. I probably know more things about him than they do that would upset them.
I know you don’t hate Texas and if I remember correctly you are an X-pat from CA. Seems I remember you told me you left because you could no longer tolerate the governmental insanity there.
I only want a candidate for President who will actually pull the trigger and DownSize DC! I am still convinced that “dramatic” reduction in the size of the Federal Government is the only path out of this mess.
The question is which candidate will actually do that?
Romney will not.
Newt will sound like he might, but ultimately he will not.
Cain might, but I doubt it.
Rick Perry might. I am not sure he would but his statements and his book (Fed UP) state that he would.
Admitted, he is a terrible debater. He has been a good governor of Texas more because those who influence him bridle his shoot from the hip. He is not a bad person, he has made some bone headed call that have cost his image. As long as he stays here in TX he will be restrained in his actions by those who influence him.
The “Establishment Republican leadership” asked him to run because they see the trainwreck that Romney would be for the Party.
That is my perspective on Rick.
There is no point in arguing with them. They are on a singular mission of personal destruction. Not only towards the candidate they hate, but for who ever disagrees with them.
Stop feeding the beast and it will eventually starve.
” There are some Texas haters on the Board.”
Maybe, but how would you determine such a thing?
I have only been in Teas 3 times, and found the people above average in the friendliness department. My church deacon and close friend was raised on a ranch in Lubbock, TX.
I just don’t like Perry atall !
: )
” I know you dont hate Texas and if I remember correctly you are an X-pat from CA. Seems I remember you told me you left because you could no longer tolerate the governmental insanity there.”
I left California in Oct of 2006, because I saw the state committing suicide. The left has all but destroyed the economy there, and bankrupted the treasury. And I lived on the Ventura County side of Malibu, where left wing actors fear to tread : )
There is as much “government insanity” in Washington DC too.
My daughter and son-in-law now live near Fairfax, VA. His company transferred him to DC. He is a corporate attorney. Another story.
I’ll ping you when they show up. And they will.
