In writing, finding mistakes is the hardest job there is, and in spite of all the work that goes into it, mistakes always show up. It is easy for someone else to spot them, but very difficult for the writer to see them. I have found out that the best way to find your own mistakes is to read your work out loud.

I don't totally disagree. Perhaps it's because I have a habit of proof reading, and think that it's pretty basic to creating written communications. Especially if one is writing articles intended for mass consumption.
