The white jerseys look similar to the Hurricanes.

Nice unis. Color coordinating with the Dolphins and Hurricanes. Good luck getting the Heat on board.

An abomination. The only thing worse is the planned kaleidoscopic psychedelic scoreboard display when they hit a home run. Now that Florida has demonstrated it is completely incapable of becoming baseball-friendly (MLB only, of course) they should contract the teams. I’M KIDDING (barely). I always thought Orlando would be a more logical place for an MLB team in Florida.

Do they actually
think they are going to increase attendance with a name and uniform change?
They've had great talent on the field and in management during their short history and their attendance has been pathetic. It will contine to be pathetic until they move to a place which actually has a market for baseball in the summertime.
I think the stupidest thing MLB has ever done (aside from keeping Bud Selig) is to put franchises in Florida and Arizona. Arizona managed to make it moderately successful with the dry heat and in-stadium swimming pools. Florida can't do that. Most of their customer base has gone back north for the summer and they aren't going to get it back with the year-rounders.

I'd almost agree, but now that the Marlins are moving into a true dedicated baseball stadium at the former Orange Bowl site (e.g., lot easier to get to for fans in Dade County) with retractable roof to shield against summer afternoon thunderstorms, I believe attendance will be
WAY higher.
And the Marlins have the nucleus for a potentially great team, too.

Whoever or whatever designed these uniforms, caps and logo needs to go back to what they know best. Hairdressing and interior decorating.

Actually, like so many things wrong with baseball, it goes back to Jeff Loria who just loves him some modern art.
This is all at his behest.
NOW WHY THE MAN WHO TORPEDOED THE EXPOS IS ALLOWED TO OWN ANY BASEBALL TEAM LET ALONE MINE IS A QUESTION I DON’T HAVE THE ANSWER TO UNLESS IT INVOLVES A BOATLOAD OF MONEY AND THE FACT THAT BUD SELIG IS CORRUPT AS ALL HELL

Much like the baseball team in suburban Dallas, the folks in Miami will have a team with a geographic name.
The Texas Texas lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series and now the Miami Miami will host the defending World Champion Cardinals on Opening Day 2012.
