LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- A University of Nebraska regent says he fears for the safety of the Cornhuskers' football traveling party and fans at Saturday's game at Penn State. He wants assurances a security plan is in place to protect them.

Here’s a novel idea. How about colleges teach academics instead of running sports programs most of which are havens for “underwater basketweaving” majors.

Been saying it since last night, Penn State is done for the year, and probably a few more years after that.

Dare to dream. Money rules...from the universities to the TV networks to the beer commercials and on and on and on.

Shut it down. As I said on another thread....I was in a uni marching band and we had problems with the ‘other team’ throwing stuff at us, spitting on us, swearing, etc. and had to be escorted out of the stadium with heavy police presence. I WOULD NOT like to be in Penn State’s band right now. I wouldn’t even like to attend a game, TBH. It’s gonna get ugly.

Seriously, if I’m a Penn State fan right now, a football game is the LAST thing on my mind.

I’ll bet ya a dollar Viacom moves the game from ESPN to ABC for blockbuster ratings. Yep, I’m that cynical.

To be fair to Nebraska, I think they are asking appropriate questions for the safety of their team. With students rioting at Penn State... I think Nebraska wants some assurances that they aren’t going to be injured via the Penn State fans.

It’s only going to be worse when Penn State goes on the road...the Big Ten needs to step in and cancel their remaining games.

Yep. Absolutely. You can see their misplaced priorities, there.

Viacom is CBS. Disney owns ABC and ESPN.

Penn State should forfiet the rest of this seasons game out of respect for the victims. After the disgusting behavior of it’s fans last night they are just asking for a major incident if they allow those idiots to gather in a football stadium!!!

I agree. Cancel the remaining games for safety of the players (that had nothing to do with this).

I have been worried about this ever since it came out last week. I hope the coach and the players are prepared for it...

Penn State should cancel the rest of the season and forfeit the games and then fire the entire football staff. After that, they had better hire a bunch of lawyers to defend the university against a lot of litigation.
