If Gloria Allred appears today with accuser, will Cain be afforded the presumption of innocence?

Gloria Allred is supposed to appear today with the third Cain accuser, and at Google News, (among a few more news stories), it reads: CBS News: "Gloria Allred To Offer Up New Cain Accuser." The Daily Caller: "Gloria Allred To Represent New Cain Accuser."

Question in its totality, since space in thread title does not permit: ...will Cain be afforded the presumption of innocence by the MSM?

Secondly, (rhetorical question): is the onus of proof upon him to disprove or upon others to prove?

No matter how badly the MSM says that he has supposedly handled this, the onus of proof is not upon him. And he is to be afforded the presumption of innocence, right?

I guess you have never been involved with employees/ex-employees who have lawyered up. The only thing that DOESN'T count is the truth! Lawyers almost always string out negotiations while billing $600 per hour and then settle when it looks like the money and/or patience runs out.

Indeed. I’ve worked in employment law for years. That figure is a “nuisance value” settlement. Heck, once the 30% is taken out for attorneys’ fees, this victims have been left with a settlement that would buy them a low-end luxury car.

It’s the insurers who take over the defense and make the determination - and $35,000 - $50,000 is known as the “cut off” point, where it’s cheaper to settle, no matter what the truth of the complaint, than to proceed and incur attorneys’ fees and costs (only some of which are recoverable). So, if they offer the claimant that amount of money and they take it, they consider it a win-win situation.

Considering that the attorney for the claimant is on contingency and the greater the settlement the better, I would think if the claimant’s attorney assesses it as a serious claim, they pursue litigation. $15,000 is not all that big a payday for the attorney.

Slip and fall lawyers routinely pocket $15,000 for frivolous claims for the same reason. It’s cheaper than arguing the matter.

Don’t be surprised if this woman is black.

They probably selected a white woman for this role. Then they can play off all the fears and stereotypes of the black male predator and white female victim.
