Vanity: be careful using initials....

Posted on 11/02/2011 6:51:00 AM PDT by fred4prez

Maybe I'm the only one with this pet peeve, but when you abbreviate a couple of the candidates' names, it can be confusing.

HC: Herman Cain or Hillary Clinton? RP: Ron Paul or Rick Perry?

It isn’t just candidates. When I see PA it requires further reading to see if it was Pennsylvania or Palestinian Authority. When Rendell was governor of the former, there were times when the reading got even deeper.

My favorite: What does LA stand for? Los Angeles? Louisiana? Lower Alabama?

UK? What’s that, the United Kingdom or the University of Kentucky?

LOL.

I had already logged out, I’m sitting here - literally busting out laughing.

Great pic.

Someone used ‘F&F’ in a post that I clicked on thinking it was about Fast and, and it turned out to be about Fox and Friends. Ugh. I can’t agree more. This is hugh and series.

No, this is an important matter that we need to be disgusting.

I'm pretty disgusted already. Why do we need to be disgusting also?

At one time in the deep south people would name their sons with initials only. Such as J.D.. I knew a buy in the army whose name was R.B. Jones. He had trouble convincing the authorities that his full name was R.B. . So when he was making out the papers so he could be paid monthly(this was back in 1959)he wanted to clarify that his name was R.B., so he wrote R(only)B(only)Jones. Sure enough from then on all of his official papers carried the name Ronly Bonly Jones.

Sometimes clarifying doesn't work either:).

“I’m a doctor. I always write out the name of the disease”.

Yeah... like doctors are known for their good handwriting, huh?! How do you do when writing scripts... oops, prescriptions?! LOL!!!

My handwriting is awful. But when I write something important like a prescription I write very carefully and very clearly.

You are one of the few! My son use to have horrible handwriting and told his teacher that most doctors have this problem as well... so it is a sign of brilliance. My own G.P.’s scripts are so bad that the pharmacies have had to call the office to find out what they said. I crack up with that since they are usually very good at reading chicken scratch. LOL!
