Vanity: be careful using initials....

Maybe I'm the only one with this pet peeve, but when you abbreviate a couple of the candidates' names, it can be confusing.
HC: Herman Cain or Hillary Clinton? RP: Ron Paul or Rick Perry?

I hate initials like that.
I'm a doctor. I always write out the name of the disease: arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease not ASCVD. It doesn't take much more time, and clarity is of utmost importance.
Also--ever notice how in the past people wrote initials in place of proper names, even in such things as family Bibles? Sometimes it's impossible to know that the person's name was. All you have is J. M. Zunk or some such, and nobody knows what J. M. stood for.
If I'm going to use initials, I give thim parenthetically first: arteriosclerocic cardiovascular diseasd (ASCVD) or Jezebel Modine Zunk (J. M. Zunk).

When I see PA it requires further reading to see if it was Pennsylvania or Palestinian Authority. Good to know I ain't the only one! For awhile there I had just about swore off ever going to Pennsylvania, going by the headlines alone.
