Why did Establishment media go after Cain, yet leave it to The Enquirer to go after John Edwards?

Some time back, reports broke about John Edward's supposed extra-marital doings, and the establishment media wouldn't touch it, leaving it to The Enquirer. But the establishment media, or at least a component of it, seems to have no problem doing what seems to be the opposite with Herman Cain.

Does the establishment (the political component of it?) want Romney to face Obama?

McCain, we were told over and over again, was the toughest guy for Obama to face, and the best choice for Republicans. The MSM, on-the-other-hand, talked incessantly about how they were (at the same time) concerned that Obama would have to face McCain. Now the MSM is giving the same song and dance about Romney.

With Romney, you may not get gigantic gov't like you get with Obama's policies, but you will get big gov't. Borrow-and-spend will continue either way. Romney leans left on social policies, while Obama is fully to the left. With Romney, you can see past videoes about him saying that RomneyCare could be a model for the nation (a state mandate mind you, yet a HC mandate nonetheless). And the list goes on and on.

RINOs want Romney, and DINOs would rather have him than Cain, Ron Paul or Bachmann as president...

And squelched all stories on Larry Sinclair and that Man’s Country homo bath house in Chicago where Obummer and Rahm Emmanuel held membership.

For the same reason they couldn’t report on any of Obama’s scandals or inadequacies, but ran like heck to stick a totally unsubstantiated story of McCain’s infidelity on the front of the NY Times.

Cain is dangerous. He’s a black man who is a Conservative, and must NOT be allowed to succeed as a role model. Powerful conservatives from traditional victim groups MUST be kept on the plantation by the liberal media, and it doesn’t matter how it is done.

This is the time they do it. When the candidate first starts to come to national attention - before, the story doesn’t get enough notice, and after, they’ve developed a media personality. Like Palin, the destruction starts the moment they start to come out - the MSM has to define them as stupid, immoral, etc BEFORE Americans really start to get who the candidate REALLY is.

It’s a classic MSM conservative hating attack.
