Couple Lost in Apple Orchard Calls 911 [Massachusetts -- again]

There must be something in the water in Massachusetts this year.

For the second time in a month, police have responded to a 911 call from a couple stranded — and lost — on a farm outing. This time, the rescue appeal came from an apple orchard.

When Mark and Marcia Rosenthal of Boston went apple-picking on the afternoon of Oct. 22, they didn’t expect it to end with a rescue.

According to the farm’s owner, the two wandered too from their parked car at Honey Pot Orchard in Stow, and as night began to fall, they became frightened that they wouldn’t be able to find their way back. The Rosenthals called the Orchard’s main line, but when no one answered, they called 911.

Where are you?

I’m in phone booth.

What’s the address?

Uh, it’s on the corner of Telephone and Telephone.

If Joe Biden had to get a real job, I’m pretty sure he’d be a TV meteorologist.

I really can’t scoff too much. Years ago my brother and I were visiting my uncle in New Hampshire. We went out for a walk about 3 in the PM. I knew my brother hiked a lot, so I sort of relied on him. It was just around this time of year, it must have been Columbus Day weekend. Well, it gets dark pretty early, there are no street signs, no lights, we didn’t have a light, the houses are almost all empty, (they are summer homes, mostly) and no cell phones back in those days. We got TOTALLY lost.

Luckily we finally found some people who were at home, having a rather raucous party. My uncle was a pretty well known guy around there and some of the fellows knew him and had done some work for him and knew where he lived.

They drove us home, and we were very grateful.

Whatever did people do when there weren’t cell phones, onstar, or police. Oh ya, they looked at the sun, moon, or stars. This is rediculous they couldn’t find their way back.

The folks that went into the orchard to find them deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

That's the first thing I was thinking when I saw the pattern of that orchard. Roads on all sides and in between. Idiots.

LOL!

Choked on a piece of gum too.

A couple huh? No. How about foolish fem and beta-boy supreme.

Look, a situation like that is perfect for the guy to show the gal his leadership, guts, poise and courage to...

get them out of there safely.

Then follow it up with you, her, a bearskin rug, and a warm fire while you watch the pitiful OWS’ers in the snow on TV.

Opportunities....learn to recognize them.

If you look at the aerial photograph at the source link, this becomes even more laughable. All they had to do was walk in any direction. When you hit dense forest or a road, you know you’ve hit the perimeter. Walk it back to the farmhouse. It’s a few hundred yards to walk. Good lord. These people have the situational awareness of grasshoppers.
