Another storm coming Saturday to the Northeast bringing drenching rain also threatens a heavily populated part of the region with downed trees, power outages, and travel delays from heavy, wet snow.
Fresh cold air will invade the Northeast through Friday, paving the way for major problems in the Northeast as the second and stronger storm in three days comes calling this weekend.
If the storm develops to its full potential, thousands of trees could come down, and over a million people could be without power.
The Saturday storm will bring a change to wet snow in many more places, compared to the Thursday storm.

Yeah, that "ain't kosher".
It is amazing the number of idiots who build a male-male extension cord (110 VAC) and backfeed their house via a wall plug!
I often think that Darwin was really onto something!

We looked at a generator for our house a few years ago and had the transfer switch installed to kick the electric furnace on and keep the fridge running. This was based on a three day power failure from a 2008-09 winter storm.
The best approach was a buried propane tank to provide enough fuel for an extended outage. If there is no power in the area and maybe the roads are bad, sufficient fuel is the key for getting the best from a generator.

Guilty as charged, I guess.
male-male extension cord (110 VAC)
Ahem... the working term for mine is "suicide cord", and it's 6-3 wire, which is not your typical extension cord.

I hope it stays just warm enough to rain instead of snow on the occupy people. I enjoy camping in the snow, but there is nothing more miserable than an unending very cold rain. I can stay dry and warm and comfy camping in snow...but a very cold rain is nothing but damp and miserable and always bone-chilling...don’t even want to be outside. If it rains, we should organize a flash mob to run through the camp slashing tent roofs.

It seems the NYPD and FDNY just removed all of their generators from the park.

Lost my power (central Connecticut).
Was without electricity for over a week.
At one point there was a two-hour wait to get gasoline (most gas stations didn’t have power either)
