Video: Why Rick Perry will Win the GOP Nomination[Evan Smith]
Utah Pulse ^ | October 26, 2011 | VIDEO

Posted on 10/26/2011 2:05:24 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Evan Smith on Bloggingheads.tv says, despite his fall in the polls, Rick Perry will likely best Mitt Romney in the contest for the GOP nomination.

Smith says Romney's support is "wide and shallow" while Perry's support is "narrow and deep," and he categorizes this election as a "narrow and deep" election.

He also says that, other than Jon Huntsman, there is no other candidate left in race whom, upon dropping out, would endorse Romney. He adds that the supporters of the other candidates would also not gravitate to Romney.

What do you mean that you doubt Cain will endorse Romney? He has already indicated that he would.

Wait, so if Rick Perry declared you are not a citizen, then suddenly, you, Persevero, aren’t a citizen? I didn’t even think a governor could effect the U.S. citizenship of residents of his state. Wow, you believe in tremendous government authority.

Thanks for the link attempts. I'm sure he has some articles that claim he's doing a great job, I can only judge for myself with his recent pronouncements and his actions.

He enthusiastically signed the act giving tuition to the kids of illegals a decade ago, I'm sorry, any excuse that "everyone was for it" doesn't cut it, that was Rove at his worst and Perry doesn't yet understand how wrong that was. He called out the Arizona law as wrong, doubling down on his free tuition to illegals calling those who don't agree "heartless" showing us who he really is, a hispanderer; frankly we don't need another one of those. Reading about his pandering speech to LaRaza frankly makes me ill.

Once upon a time I defended Perry, saying we will soon see what he says about this issue on the campaign trail, and now that I've seen and watched, he gets an "F" and no support from me. That should be true of any conservative, he is not the conservative alternative to Romney his supporters claim he is, he just isn't.

Alot of this is less about principle and more about suckling at the power teet.

Well I am glad to see you are finally waking up to why Perry got in the race

Wait a minute... what? No other candidate other than Huntsman will endorese Romney? How about ALL of them? Ok, not Ron Paul, but he won’t drop out. Cain... yes. Santorum... of course, he’s in the race to be in somebody’s Cabinet. Maybe not Bachmann. Gingrich... definitely. I prefer Perry to Romney, but he’s the outsider here. Romney will get the backing of the other candidates as they drop out.

Yes, but the question is who will the current candidates endorse when they drop out?

Cain and Romney are buds, no reason not to.

I do believe that Cain would endorse Romney.

And all the former Palin-worshippers will once again have their heads ‘asplode’ in shock.

I’m sorry, but really, he’s done. We need to consolidate behind Cain to beat Romney now.

They weren’t attempts - the links work.

You really ought to consider all the Governor has done for Texas rather than focus on one word and one law.

For one thing, no candidate is without mistakes. Consider the days that Cain went around talking about 1960 to 1981 and saying he hadn’t had time to research it.. Or the problem he had with making abortion illegal, but not allowing a President or government to interfere with the choice of the family to do something illegal.

On the other hand, Governor Perry knows exactly why he’s pro-life, pro-family, pro-10th Amendment and is very clear on the boundaries of the various governmental units from the family to the Feds.

Texas is the perfect example of “supply side” finance and the result of limited interference on the part of government with business. All of this while standing on the front lines of the border and of border control.
