The cat fell from a ceiling tile in the customs room.
A Bay Area cat lost for two months since it went missing from a baggage center at John F. Kennedy Airport has been found safe.
American Airlines reports that the feline, known as Jack the Cat, was found in a customs room and was taken to a veterinarian. A family friend of the owner told NBC that the cat was discovered after it fell from a ceiling tile.
Karen Pascoe was flying with Jack and her other cat, Barry, to San Francisco that week to start a new job in California.
She continued to California, but returned days later to keep looking for Jack. She also hired a pet detective at the time to help, but he was not found. Pascoe now reportedly lives in San Jose, but has traveled back to New York to see her cat.
A Facebook page dedicated to the cat reported Wednesday that owner Pascoe spoke to the vet, who told her that he is being fed through a nasal tube and will need treatment for three to five days.
"There's every reason to believe he's going to be OK, but he definitely needs to get healthier before he can fly home," the update said.
Jack disappeared in the American Airlines baggage center on Aug. 25, just before Hurricane Irene arrived in New York and forced airports to shut down for most of the weekend.
American Airlines said its airport employees "have been focused on the search effort since Jack escaped" and promised to fly the cat out to California to be reunited with his owner.
Two local women who have adopted Jack's cause posted on a Facebook page dedicated to him that they saw him briefly Tuesday night and can report "he looks tired but bright-eyed and dirty."
I wonder what on earth he found to eat and found water?
He had to have found food and water or he would have died.
“The cat fell from a ceiling tile in the customs room.”
Or employee staged a “reappearance” after returning the cat. ;-)
Argh! Thanks! Fix that when I get home.
Did you hear the guy on Levin’s show today?
I was stunned at what his ex-wife did to his dog and then sent a picture of the death.
I pulled over, stunned and saying “My Gawd”.
Unbelievable and no way I could understand such a heinous character.
Don’t listen to radio much, but I do know there are some sick ****s in the world.
This thread is useless without a picture of the cat in question!
Any TSA personnel missing?

” ...he looks tired but bright-eyed and dirty. He’s in kitty ICU on fluids,..”
“...Jack is stable but will need treatment for at least the next 3-5 days. He does have fatty liver disease, which occurs when a cat hasn’t eaten in a while. He is currently not stable enough to be operated on, and is being fed through a nasal tube.”
“... Jack is not out of the woods yet, but he’s resting and being tube fed and receiving IV fluids ...”
“...the vet reported he’s got a 50/50 chance, but I think he’s just trying to keep expectations low...”
Thank goodness they found him in time where he has a chance.
Poor baby! Fingers crossed...
What a sweet cat! Thanks for posting the pic!
My pleasure.
Jack is actually not doing so well. He has fatty liver disease from starvation, and he’s in ICU. The vet has said his chances are about 50-50.
Here’s hoping that he makes it. Prayers up.
She can stay with me and I will help her shed her evil ways and costume!
Here kitty kitty...
Keep your hands off my pussy!
Why isn’t your cat fixed??? What are you waiting for?
I’m worried about Jack the Cat now.
He was starved for so long, he is sure to have permanent organ damage.
Darn it.
