IMHO Rubio could generate the sort of enthusiasm Guv Palin did.
There's no reason Rubio couldn't declare right now, and enter the race.
I think he should. I think he'd win.
There are some who believe Rubio is not qualified by birth as eligible.
Regardless, I would let Rubio have a few terms first before promoting him to national politics. We have plenty of choices for VP.
Rubio has always been my first choice. I wish he would run.
I have really tried to become enthusiastic about any of our candidates and come up short, though I will definitely vote for whomever is the eventual nominee.
That said, Rubio joining the fray would absolutely get me excited.
For the record, and not because I care to argue with those who feel just as firmly opposed to this; I think he IS a NBC, so there is no hesitation from me on that front.
“Want to slime him. Almost like they were about Palin...”
Your observation is correct. They want to get any true conservative in their sights right now so they can use the more than a year we still have before the election to attack and destroy their credibility. Palin, Rubio, Demint -whoever can speak well and has the personal qualities to win - and has not stepped directly into the line of fire - the media is opening up on them anyway.
Their unprecedented, hate-filled attacks on Palin proved they will receive no fallout from those who matter to them when they attack a woman or a minority. They've always known they can unload on a white man, and now they know their lib cred will remain even when they go nuclear on someone in a way which, if a conservative did it, would result in the attacker being branded a bigot.
There are no restraints on them now, if there ever were. They know they can attack a woman and The View gals will not only not criticize the attacks, they'll be leading them. They can attack Cain and not suffer one word from Sharpton and company--they'll help, actually. Now, they've gone into Palin-level bizarreness with this "when did your parents really leave Cuba, sir???" thing, and this sounding is giving them pointers for how to attack a Cuban-American.
It'd be sad if it weren't so expected.
I had seen something about the first filing deadlines being the middle of October. He *may* have until the end of October , November 1st at the absolute latest.
Rubio is a Bush guy who is dreadful on immigration.
He has zero executive experience or experience outside of a political career, and he is less than two years removed from serving at the state legislature level.
And he looks like he’s in his 20’s. What most excites people about Rubio is that he’s Hispanic—and identity politics is not supposed to be what drives our party.
No, he wouldn’t win.
I think they’re worried about Rubio as veep rather than at the top of the ticket, and that’s because of Florida. It is far too late for Rubio to announce for the top slot even if he was interested. And even in the second slot the birthers will rip him apart more than the Democrats will.
Rubio’s resume:
High School
Law School
State Legislator
Senate
I think we need more.
There’s no reason other than he’s not a Natural Born Citizen.
Put on your flame retardant suit. There are many on FR that believe Rubio is not eligible to be president.
They seem to not be able to get past the constitutional requirements,
IMHO, It’s probably not a good idea to just throw out the Constitution whenever it is convenient. Marco Rubio does not qualify to be president of the United States. He was born in 1972, his parents became citizens in 1975.
Article II section 1.5 clause 5, of the U.S. Constitution: No Person except a natural born Citizen ... shall be eligible to the Office of President
Natural Born Citizen: Anyone born on U.S. soil to U.S. citizen parents.
I think Rubio would be OK as a VP nominee. I don’t think he has the campaign experience to run as President, though. The way he handled the media inquiry into his family was pretty embarrassing. He needs to mello out.
I think that he should take advantage of this opportunity to be vetted. Let the media prowl. The media will try to make mountains out of molehills. Let it try.
Would you please list the defining positions that Marco Rubio has stated that are recognized nation wide and would carry him to a victory with full support of conservatives?
Since Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan have also vehemently refused to run, why don’t you try and draft them as well while you’re at it.
The Republican base, and probably the general public is in the mood for a real conservative leader. That’s why Cain, a political neophyte, is leading in the polls. Rubio probably isn’t too well-known outside Florida, but he could catch fire.
Rubio should be everyones V.P. selection.
He’s not experienced enough for top dog yet but a term or two as V.P. would sure make him everyones next pick.
The dems are crazy afraid of Rubio because they look at the latin vote as their own. Same for blacks, fags, teachers and trial lawyers.
Were Rubio on the ticket as V.P. he’d deliver the majority of latins which is about thirty million more votes than joe (the drunk) biden delivered.
What part of “INELIGIBLE” don’t you understand?
