Anyone Notice (More Perverted TV) (Rant)

Posted on 10/21/2011 10:02:02 PM PDT by freejohn

Wasn't sure exactly Where this post belonged so I hope I'm in the right place!?

The other night I turned on the tv and was greeted with an up close shot of a couple kissing. As the camera panned outward, the scene was of two 'guys' sitting on a couch with their arms around each other .. going at it like two boars in heat!

The show is a regular which I've never seen and which I Will Never See again. The show is/was "The Good Wife".

Tonight, I turn to FX (Fox) a few minutes before the movie "District Nine" comes on and what I first thought was a young lady, wearing too much eye-shadow giving an interview, turns out to be a 'Dude', wearing too much eye-shadow giving an interview!

What was so out of place was that FX is a 'regular' station and this 'Dude' was saying things like .. "I like to Fuc* more than one guy at a time.

Or I don't really like more than one F-ing me at a time!

Fuc* this and Fuc* that!

Am I the only LUCKY one to be seeing more and more of this perverted CR@P on 'regular' channels now!?

I have cautiously been watching Pan Am on CBS on Sunday nights. When I first saw it advertised around the same time promos for "The Playboy Club" started running I figured it was just another attempt to copy the success of "Mad Men" by exploiting the sexuality of the 60's.

I checked out the first episode. I was surprised. So far there is a lot of Cold War era spying and the real star of the show, for me anyway, is the 707. There have been a few adult scenes, but I've seen worse on NCIS, but so far it's been good. Of course with my luck, the next show will be full of sex and vulgar language just after I recommend it.

I blame the smut on TV today on Bill Clinton. It was his TV Rating system that opened the doors to all kinds of depravity as long as they coded the program with the proper series of rating codes and the TVs were equipped with the Vchip, they could pushed the envelop all they wanted.

Cross Fringe off your list. Premarital sex and cross dimensional pregnancy.

I tell my kids, it is a sliding baseline. I grew up with a married couple in twin beds, to broke-back mountain. What will my kids be exposed to in 30 years?

I *used* to have tv on for noise... just the generic stuff like HGTV or travel shows. I didn’t want to be assaulted by the crude humor and gross depravity on most channels. But then they started in with exactly what you described, so I no longer had any reason to keep the cable. Besides, no channel nor time of day was without commercials for weirdo drugs, personal products, or PSA propaganda. It’s been a couple years now without the cable. Without all of that TV filth, the house has been so much cleaner.

Last week I was out of town for a few days R&R and turned on the TV. Egads... I would keep changing the channels only to find more drug ads, filthy conversation, unseemly topics, unseemly people, lies, propaganda, bleeped out swear words etc. Off went the TV. Ugh. It was nothing but a giant sewer pipe gushing into the room.

I believe Fringe went off that list at the end of last season. It's not generally over-the-top by modern standards, but there now is premarital sex on the show.

God blessed me with a son that has never cared for the programs that other kids his age (10) like, such as Sponge Bob, or The Simpsons. I will go so far as to say he hates them. He doesn’t even have a TV show he turns on regularly other than the old Bob Ross painting show that shows up on PBS. He spends more hours listing to old-time radio shows he got last Christmas such as Edgar Bergen Charlie McCarthy or Abbott & Costello, than he does TV. I even let him go to bed with it playing, and quietly thank God.

I’ve noticed that Hollywood isn’t put out very many movies.
I can watch videos at work so I pick some up at the gas station $1 machine. Most of what they have now is just TV and the movies don’t even have stars that I recognize. I mentioned it to my 18 yr old son and he agreed. I haven’t had TV since early 80s.

Nope, you’re not alone, and yes it is now the Norm.

And it’s only going to get worse I’m afraid.

Taking care of my mom means much time to myself. TV was becoming to me a substitute for companionship. Because of this, it was hard, but I finally pulled the plug. It has increasingly become a major propaganda tool for everything I abhor. Also, using Jesus name in vain was happening more and more. I cannot tolerate using the name of The LORD in vain so more and more shows were off my viewing list. Finally I decided to pull the plug and have been happy with my decision ever since. Amazingly it is hardly missed.

There are no good writers left so you ...

There may be good writers but they don't get hired by the lefties who are in control of way, way too much. Why we don't take control back by forging our own way I do not know.

Not sure if they still air them but there were some ads by axe (deodorant?) that had a lot of innuendos about ‘balls’.
You know the type like .. Some basketball guy standing with a bag full of basketballs and the guy would say, “My sac of balls smell” or “smell my sac” or .. Well .. You can imagine!

I believe that it was around that time that I started noticing more and more of the cr@p.

Throw the show Blue Mountain State into the same cesspool!

I have no idea if it is the norm or not. We have a home library of over 500 titles that we usually watch...along with 4 weekly broadcast shows(2 NCIS’s, CSI, Nature). Sometimes Cops and The Closer might be factored in.

Two and a Half Men is one of the most watched shows on TV. I can't believe the things that show gets away with. Twenty years ago, The Cosby Show was #1, now it's filth like Two and a Half Men.

I'm huge fan of South Park, so I'm certainly not a prude. Shows like Two and a Half Men certainly have their place, it's called cable. I can't believe network TV has crap like this these days.
