Herman Cain's case against pundits who claim he's running a book tour rather than a presidential campaign just got a bit more complicated.
Federal Election Commission records show that the former Godfather's Pizza executive paid more than $64,000 of his presidential campaign funds to his motivational speaking company, T.H.E. New Voice Inc., for copies of his own books, and for lodging, airfare, and resources, Bloomberg News reports.
Previous rulings by the FEC have allowed candidates to use their campaign funds to buy their own books, as long as the purchase is at market value and the money goes to charity rather than to personal profit. But Bill Allison, editorial director at the Washington, D.C.-based Sunlight Foundation, told Bloomberg that Cain's case should raise some eyebrows.
"All candidates publish books and they offer them as a premiums to donors, but most candidates aren't buying them from their own companies," Allison said. "It raises the question of his campaign contributions ending up in his own pocket."

Ever? For all of eternity?
The thing about Cain’s 999, with no payroll taxes, where does it put SS and Medicare? If he does not clarify this soon, a great many elderly are going to be completely turned off, or even hostile to him.
The rest of my life ought to be long enough...let's say 40 years.
Can you give some specifics, please?
Physician, heal thyself.
It certainly isn’t odd that a lot of Perry supporters are from Texas. He’s been our governor for 11 years. We know him pretty well and most of us like him. The liberals hate him, of course, but he’s done very good things for Texas and we who like him think he would be good for America.
I never thought I’d see the day when posters on here started hating a state.
Do y’all hate California, too?
Illinois?
Or just Texas.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on the specifics if I were you.
THANK YOU. Well said.
If he would get straight on his mindset RE Mexico and Guardasil (for starters) he might well do that. But he doesn’t seem to get that there are a few things dear to him that the rest of us want no part of.
If he wrote about his foolish ideas like the Gardisil mandate and in-state tuition for illegals that’s enough for me.
I hate the attitude coming from some loud mouthed Texans who think Texas does it all better than every other state and who think Texas owns contemporary conservatism, the nomination and the presidency. You people have done more to damage Perry on FR than Romney or Cain ever could.
So... you don't actually know what's in his book?
You can’t see the forest for the trees. Perry has very little support outside of Texas at this point. He’s in the single digits in a lot of states like Iowa, Florida and Ohio.
I really don’t give a damn what’s in his book. When I became “heartless,” I wrote your boy off with a flourish.
Cains still in third for states.
Perry: 18
LA - AL - TN - IN - KY - MO
OK - KA - ND - SD - ID - MT
NM - AZ - CO - AR - MS - AK
Romney: 17
CA - WA - OR - UT - WY - WI
MI - PA - MD - DE - RI - NY
CT - NH - VT - ME - MA
Cain: 13
Cain needs just 4 states, (TN, IN, KY and WY) to take the lead.
Don’t be so sure of what you might think today, that can change in leaps and bounds by tomorrow. Time will tell soon enough. There is still a long way to go before the primaries.
I know that Perry is toast. No Ohio, no Florida equals no White House.
And yet you said it was "full of trash and lies". Seriously... do you have any idea how this make you look?
