“She sacrificed herself to protect the best conservative in the race. To give us a chance to elect Herman Cain “

This must be the most ridiculous statement I read all year.

If there was even a remote chance of this being true, she would have endorsed Cain shortly after her announcement, just the same way Christie endorsed Romney.

Palin decided to not run for reasons of her own.

We’ll see how active she stays in the 2012 politics, I think she will be active, is just waiting a bit. But no way will she endorse Cain.

She knows how the media would spin her endorsement. We’ll see what happens.

I bet she will endorse Gingrich, if she endorses during the primary. I doubt she can really endorse Romney unless he gets the nomination. I don't think she planed on the success of Cain and probably feels like Perry stole her thunder. She's not going to attach herself to Bachmann, Huntsman, and Santorum. Ron Paul is out of the question for her. That leaves only Gingrich.

Palin decided to not run for reasons of her own.

My theory is that Palin had an agreenent with WalMart to provide her with state-by-state sales of The Undefeated after the first day of release, and determinded in advance to go/no go based on sales in states which would be critical to her success. When the figures were provided she ran the numbers and threw in the towel, the day after the release. I'm at least willing to take her at her word: she was contemplating running all along, not "stringing us along", but had a predetermined decision-point. (She couldn't have announced in advance her criterion, it would have invalidated the test: her fans would have simply flocked to WalMart's and bought multiple copies to convince her to run.)

Palin's day - and ours - may yet come, but not in 2012.

“We’ll see how active she stays in the 2012 politics”.

She said she was reloading. She also said, to paraphrase, that if you trusted her to be president, why would you doubt her stated intentions now
